Day 2 of the Main Event here at WSOP-C Harrah's Chester has come to an end.

We began the day with 55 players remaining from the starting field of 269. After seven levels and change, only nine are left with hopes of capturing the $94,901 first-place prize and a seat in the WSOP-C National Championship to be held later this month. On top of the counts is Ramana Epparla, holding a massive lead on the competition with a stack of 1,950,000.

Epparla was in the middle of the pack for much of the day, but a key hand with 11 players remaining propelled him to the top. At the 6,000/12,000/2,000 level, he opened the pot with a raise to 32,000 from the button. Michael DePasquale three-bet to 77,000 out of the big blind, Epparla called to see a flop, and it came down {J-Hearts} {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}. DePasquale bet 67,000, but Epparla's response was a shove with the bigger stack, putting DePasquale to the decision for his last ~440,000 chips.

A quick call from DePasquale revealed {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}, while Epparla sheepishly showed {6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} for nothing but a gutshot straight draw. The {2-Spades} turn changed nothing, but the {7-Diamonds} completed Epparla's draw, sending DePasquale to the rail, as well the momentum of the tournament Epparla's way.

The remaining nine stack up like this:

1Huy Nguyen429,000
2Robert Hwang274,000
3Ed Cotter686,000
4Ryan Waddell321,000

6Ari Engel411,000
7Ramana Epparla1,950,000
8Kenny Nguyen622,000
9Robert Scott467,000

WSOP-C Choctaw Main Event Champion Huy Nguyen is in contention, as is the always dangerous Ari Engel. We'll be back at Noon local time tomorrow to bring you final table coverage of all the action. Until then, good night from Chester!

Michael Rocco Eliminated in 10th Place ($7,054)

Level 24 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Huy Nguyen open-shoved for just over 200,000 from the small. In the big, Michael Rocco quickly called with {A-Spades} {2-Spades}, plenty good enough to commit his final ~150,000 to the pot. It was a case of poor timing, though, as Nguyen had woken up with {7-Spades} {7-Hearts}.

The {K-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {4-Clubs} flop was no good for Rocco's hopes, but the turn {8-Spades} gave him another nine outs to try and run down the flush. He could not. The river was the wrong color, and the {3-Hearts} is the final card of this Day 2. Rocco is out in 10th place on the final table bubble, and the chip bags have come out to the table.

Day 2 is history, and we'll be back with a quick summary and the chip counts in just a minute.

More For Epparla

Level 24 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Under the gun plus one, Robert Scott opened to 47,000. Around in the big blind, Ramana Epparla raised to 97,000 total, and Scott quickly called to go heads up to the flop.

It came {10-Spades} {2-Spades} {5-Clubs}, and the action was a bit unclear. It looked like Epparla led out with 50,000, and we head Scott quickly announce, "A hundred," as he slid forward a stack of gray chips. Epparla called, and the {9-Spades} landed on the turn. Now, Epparla took the betting lead with 105,000 of his own chips, and Scott instantly called to see the {K-Diamonds} on the river. Epparla bet 50,000 this time, and Scott instantly called again.

"Ace-king," Epparla said, turning up {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}. That was better than Scott's {K-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}, and Epparla has moved up close to 1.9 million with that pot.

Scott is back below the average stack with 480,000 in front of him.

Epparla Gets Rocco Again

In early position, Michael Rocco raised to 35,000, and his old pal Ramana Epparla put in the call from the button. It was just the two of them, and the dealer gave them a {6-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} {4-Spades} flop. Rocco decided to lead out into the pot with 40,000, and Epparla promptly raised to 80,000 total. Rocco called.

The turn brought the {10-Clubs}, and Rocco tried again, leading out with a small bet of 20,000. Epparla raised to 70,000 this time, and Rocco called once again. On the {3-Clubs} river, Rocco checked and called one last bet of 100,000. Those were a bunch of chips he'd not get back. Epparla tabled {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}, and his two pair was good enough to send Rocco's cards into the muck.

Great Scott!

Level 24 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Under the gun, Robert Scott came in raising to 44,000, and he found a call from Sean Knitter who came along in position to a heads-up flop.

The dealer spread out {2-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {9-Spades}, and both men checked to see the {2-Spades} on the turn. That cued a delayed continuation bet of 70,000 from Scott, and Knitter made the call to see the last card.

It was the {4-Diamonds}, and Scott checked this time. That cued Knitter into action, and he fired out 100,000 on the end. Scott called, and his {A-Hearts} {Q-Spades} had Knitter's {A-Spades} {J-Spades} out-kicked. That pot goes to Scott, moving him up into second place with 795,000 chips.

Knitter is down to 230,000.

Epparla Tearing it Up

Level 24 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Ramana Epparla
Ramana Epparla

From middle position, Michael Rocco opened the pot to 28,000, and chip leader Ramana Epparla defended his big blind to go heads up to the flop.

It came {2-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {8-Spades}, and Epparla knocked the table. Rocco bet 36,000, but Epparla snuck in a check-raise to 76,000. Not to be out-done, Rocco reraised to 136,000, and Epparla came right back over the top with an all-in shove. Rocco couldn't call that, mucking his cards and leaving himself with about 445,000.

Ramana Epparla is on a tear, working his stack up to about 1.4 million. He's got more than 25% of the chips in play.
