Day 1 of the $10,000 World Series of Poker Circuit Regional Championship at the Horseshoe Hammond has come to a close. A field of 226 came to play today and 114 will return tomorrow for Day 2. Shortly after the dinner break, Ryan Julius won a massive pot with aces against kings to vault to a huge chip lead, ending the day with 265,000. Jonathan Tamayo bagged up a stack of 186,300, and is in second place. Also ending the day with six figures were Bernard Lee (139,400), Shannon Shorr (131,500), Vanessa Selbst (130,000), Dave Sands (113,700), and Chad Brown (110,100).

Among those that will not be back for Day 2 include WSOP Player of the Year leader Frank Kassela, Jeff Madsen, Sorel Mizzi, and many others. Play will resume at 1:00pm local time tomorrow.
