Friedman Busts and a Fight Almost Breaks Out

Adam Friedman
Adam Friedman

Adam Friedman had raised under the gun to what looked to be about 25,000. Charles "Woody" Moore was in the small blind and reraised 105,000 more. Friedman moved all in for 279,000 total and Moore called it off.

Moore held the dominated {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} to Friedman's {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}.

"I knew he was gonna overplay a hand," said Friedman, running around the table to tell his friend he was all in for 600,000 with ace-king versus ace-queen. Then, the flop came down {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{2-Clubs}.

"Ahhh, queen in the door! Obviously! I knew it, I knew I had no chance!" yelled Friedman.

The turn brought the {2-Diamonds} and the river the {5-Diamonds} to finish things off and official eliminate Friedman.

"I knew that guy was going to overplay a hand. He put in 300k with ace-queen, I knew he'd overplay something," Friedman went on to say. He then made his way back towards his seat and was mumbling something. We don't know exactly what was said, but did here the F-bomb dropped in there somewhere. Moore heard whatever it was Friedman said and sprung from his chair as though he was 20 years old and someone had just hit his girlfriend. He charged right into the face of Friedman and stopped inches away, yelling, "What did you just say to me! What'd you say!"

Friedman denied saying anything as the floor staff was not in the area at the time, but made their way there shortly. Moore got back into his seat and then Friedman made his way to the payout desk where he got his winnings. Moore now has over 600,000 and is up there towards the top of the pack.

McCormick Ousted

Austin McCormick moved all in from early position for his last 146,000. Brian McKain thought long and hard before making the call and showing {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}. The table was a little surprise when McCormick turned over {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}.

The {9-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} flop gave McKain two pair but gave McCormick and open-ended straight draw. The {5-Clubs} on the turn did not complete it and neither did the {5-Diamonds} on the river. McCormick became our 19th place finisher.

Dinner Break

The past 20 minutes has been characterized by tight play as players seemed content to make it to the dinner break. Their wish came true as the level has just come to an end and the remaining 18 players have been given one hour to grab a bite to eat.

Clough's Tournament Life at Stake

Drazen Ilich raised to 27,000 preflop only to have David Clough move all in for a total of 93,000. Action folded back to Ilich who reluctantly made the call.

Ilich: {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Clough: {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

Clough was ahead and remained so through the {3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop. The {8-Hearts} on the turn brought him one step closer to a double-up, which he obtained when the {8-Diamonds} fell on the river. Clough doubled to apporximately 200,000 while Ilich dropped to the same amount.

Ilich Involved A Lot

From the small blind, Drazen Ilich made it 28,000 to go. Charles "Woody" Moore called from the big blind and the flop came down {5-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Ilich fired out 21,000 and Moore moved all in, having Ilich well covered for his last 174,000 chips. Ilich tanked and then folded his hand.

On the next hand, Tuan Bui Le raised to 42,000 from middle position. Action folded around to Ilich on the button and he reraised all in for 172,000. Everyone, including Le, folded and Ilich won the pot.

On the very next hand, action folded to Ilich in the cutoff seat. He raised to 27,000 and Moore reraised all in from the button with his 800,000 chips or so. The two blinds folded and then Ilich also folded, not liking the aggression and pressure applied by Moore.

Miguel Borrero Eliminated in 18th Place ($5,081)

Miguel Borrero - 18th Place
Miguel Borrero - 18th Place

Mike Foster began this doozie of a hand with a raise to 35,000 from middle position. Ilias Kellikidis made the call from the hijack seat and then Miguel Borrero looked down at his cards. He shipped all of his chips into the middle for an all-in bet worth 299,000 from the cutoff seat. Inthe next seat was John Holder and he reraised all in. After the blinds folded, Foster was back up and he tanked for several minutes with 231,000 in chips behind. Eventually, he folded his hand and then Kellikidis folded pocket fives behind him, leaving Borrero to battle with Holder.

It was Holder holding the best of it against Borrero with the {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} against Borrero's {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}.

The board ran out {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and Holder held up with a pair of aces. Borrero stood next to the table, hands on his hips, shaking his head. Holder did in fact have him covered after the final count was verified just to be sure. Borrero was eliminated in 18th place for just over $5,000 while Holder shot up to about 700,000 in chips.
