Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Tournament Director Jimmy Sommerfeld has just given the players the rundown of the rules here at the Palm Beach Kennel Club after which he handed the microphone to one of the celebrities in the house. T.J. Cloutier took the floor to welcome the players and issue the most famous words in poker. "Shuffle up and deal!" Cloutier announced, and with that, the Main Event is under way!

We have just shy of 400 players registered and seated for this first flight of the day.

Welcome to the Sunshine State!

Welcome to West Palm Beach, Florida for the latest stop on the World Series of Poker Circuit! The Palm Beach Kennel Club has been the place to be since February 17 to win circuit rings and earn points to qualify for the WSOP-C National Championship, set to run from May 27-29 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

A large field is expected to partake in the excitement today and the tournament staff has acted accordingly. Since the tournament area and poker room here at the Palm Beach Kennel Club can only accommodate roughly 40 tables, there will be two Day 1 flights, each playing nine levels. The first will begin at 11am, about 45 minutes from now, while the second flight will kick off at 7pm.

PokerNews will be on the floor throughout the tournament to provide all of the action as the race towards the National Championship continues. We'll see you at the top of the hour!
