Kroon vs. Crain

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

On a flop of {4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, Eric Crain checked from the small blind and Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon followed suit in the big. The hijack threw out a modest bet of 16,000, which both his opponents called. When the {5-Spades} hit the turn, Crain checked to Kroon, who fired out 47,000. The hijack quickly folded while Crain made the call.

Both players proceeded to check the {7-Spades} river and Kroon said, "Two pair," revealing {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

"Two pair ace high," Crain responded and showed {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

"Thanks for not betting 100,000 on the river," Kroon said with a laugh. "Now we're even."

We're not even close to even," Crain responded with a smile on his face, referring to an earlier hand between the two when he doubled Kroon up. We have a feeling there will be some more fireworks between the duo before the day is done.

Crain Doubles Up Patel

The last 30 minutes have been brutal for Eric Crain, he just lost another big pot and doubled up Kunal Patel. Crain opened for 12,500 and Patel raised to 27,000 from the button. Crain called and the flop came {4-Clubs} {9-Spades} {5-Hearts}. Crain checked, Patel bet 25,000 and Crain shoved. Patel called and the hands were tabled.

Crain: {8-Hearts} {7-Hearts}
Patel: {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

The board completed {Q-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} and surprisingly Crain still has a smile on his face.

Captain Tom Sets Sail

We didn't catch his elimination hand, but "Captain" Tom Franklin has been eliminated from the Main Event.

On the other hand, we tracked down Nic Johnson and Tom Luce, who're both doing quite well.

Crain Halts Slide with Lucky Flop

Eric Crain has been getting run over lately and it appeared his end was in sight when he got his last 231,500 all in preflop with {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and ran into the {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} of his unknown opponent. In actuality, the other player was at risk, although both players held nearly identical stacks.

It looked bleak for Crain, but not when the flop came down {Q-Clubs}{7-Spades}{A-Clubs}. The table erupted in disbelief, but they were quickly silenced when the {4-Clubs} turn delivered the player with kings a flush draw. Lucky for Crain, the {9-Spades} blanked on the river and he sent his opponent to the rail. Crain is back up to 500,000.

Pilgrim and Bieck Busted

Aaron Bieck after his win in Event #1

We're not sure how they departed, but both Dwyte Pilgrim and Aaron Bieck have been eliminated from the Main Event. If you recall, the latter won Event #1 here in Hammond, which was a $350 buy-in and attracted 3,0001 entrants.

Crain's Stack Cut in Half After Back to Back Hands

Eric Crain lost another sizable pot calling another player's preflop all in on the very next hand following the Kroon double up.

Crain: {A-Hearts} {10-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Clubs} {J-Clubs}

Board: {3-Clubs} {4-Spades} {6-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}

Kroon Lands Huge Double Up Through Crain

Mark "P0kerH0" Kroon and Eric Crain got locked up in a huge pot together on a flop of {A-Diamonds} {9-Spades} {6-Spades}. We believe Crain moved all in and Kroon called.

Kroon: {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}
Crain: {8-Spades} {4-Spades}

Kroon's hand held when Crain missed his flush draw as the board finished {6-Hearts} {K-Clubs}.

Editors Note: We found this hand as the chips were being counted out and got conflicting information. As floor reporters it is our duty not to impede the action or interrupt a player that does not want to be bothered. The action was unclear but the results of the hand are certain.

Brown on a Heater

Chad Brown
Chad Brown

With 35,000 in the pot and a flop of {K-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, the big blind checked to Chad Brown, who put out a bet of 15,000. Mike Scarborough folded from the button, and the big blind responded with a check-raise all in for 49,500. Brown asked for a count and then made the call, but not before adding, "You're in the lead."

Showdown
Brown: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}
Big Blind: {K-Spades}{9-Hearts}

Indeed, the big blind was ahead but Brown was drawing at 12 outs twice. The {8-Spades} turn was a miss as far as Brown was concerned, but the {7-Hearts} wasn't. Not only did Brown send one to the rail, he increased his own stack to 230,000.
