Santoro Forced to Fold

Level 12 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

"Karate" Mike Santoro was heads up with an opponent with the board reading {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Santoro slid out 9,000, and his opponent raised to 19,000. Santoro had a little over 30,000 behind, and he counted his entire stack while thinking the decision over.

Finally, the clock was called on him, but before the floor could come over he folded, turning over one of his cards - the {k-Clubs}.

"You're not nervous enough," Santoro told his opponent. "This isn't good."

Amanda Musumeci opened to 3,300 from middle position, and the action folded all the way to a player in the big blind. He defended, and the flop came down {2-Spades}{5-Spades}{5-Hearts}. The player in the big blind checked, Musumeci continued for 3,500, and her opponent swiftly check-raised to 15,000.

Musumeci unhappily folded, and is now below the starting stack.

What They're Playing For

Level 12 : 700/1,400, 200 ante

The numbers are in and the prize pool has been calculated. A total of 617 entrants created a prizepool of $897,735 that will payout the top 63 finishers. A min-cash is worth $2,936 and just making the final table will guarantee a payout of at least $17,488. The winner will get $188,735 and shiny new gold ring for just three days of work.

Back Gets in Good

Carter Phillips started the action by opening to 3,100 from under the gun. Chris Back was UTG+1 and popped it to 8,000. Just three seats later an opponent made it 22,000 to go.

The cutoff and big blind hollywooded before they folded giving Back ample time to consider his action. Phillips insta-folded and Back shoved for just over 46,000. His opponent called and the hands were tabled.

Back: {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs}
Opponent: {K-Clubs} {K-Hearts}

The board ran {J-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {6-Spades} {5-Spades} {Q-Clubs} and Back has a six figure stack.

Big Phan of Pocket Eights

Level 12 : 700/1,400, 200 ante
Chris Reslock - eliminated.
Chris Reslock - eliminated.

We were floating around the Ballroom, when out of the corner of our eyes we saw Chris Reslock move all in for over 60,000 chips. His opponent, Tuan Phan, immediately called.

Board:{q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{a-Spades}

Showdown
Reslock: {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Phan: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

"Pair the board!" Phan yelped.

The dealer paused for a moment, then slammed the {q-Spades} down of the felt, giving Phan a full house.

"YES!!!" he shouted.

Reslock shook his opponents hand, bowing out gracefully, and headed for the exit. Phan is now among our chip leaders - he commands over 200,000 chips.

We missed most of the action on the hand but caught the aftermath. Jamie Kerstetter was in the big blind and had two opponents - in the small blind and on the button. The short-stacked small blind moved all in and Kerstetter shoved her 50,000ish stack in the middle as well. The button called and Kerstetter tabled pocket fives for a flopped set. The board completed {4-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} which didn't help her opponents and Kerstetter crossed six figures with her full house.
