Tuan Phan's chipstack fluctuates too fast too keep an eye on. He's proven that he likes action and his range is any two cards. Mike Steinberg was on the button and moved all in preflop with no action in front of him. Phan was in the big blind and sat motionless staring directly at Steinberg.
"You want action?" Phan asked.
Steinberg didn't reply and Phan asked again, "You want action? You want me to double you up?"
Phan must have asked him another three times before announcing a call.
Phan:
Steinberg:
The board ran and Steinberg doubled up to over 120,000. Phan still held a stack of just over 200,000.
After a preflop raising war, Jimmy Born was all in and at risk against his neighbor; Jimmy Nunez. We were off to the races.
Showdown
Born:
Nunez:
The flop gave Nunez four extra outs to a straight, but the on the turn took away his six pair outs. The on the river was a brick, and Born, who was the chip leader of Day 1b, doubled to 175,000.
Javier Fernandez had an opponent all in and at risk with the board reading . Fernandez's trailed his opponent's , and the on the turn changed nothing.
The spiked on the river however, sending Fernandez's opponent flying out of his chair (quite literally), and off to the rail. Fernandez is now comfortably above six figures with about 180,000 chips.
Nicky Frangos put out a pet of 9,500 with the board reading , and his opponent move all in for effectively 50,000. Frangos went deep into the tank, and eventually called.
Showdown
Opponent:
Frangos:
Frangos dodged a diamond, but the on the turn gave his opponent a leading pair of tens. The on the river was a brick, and Frangos was eliminated from the tournament.
