Chad Batista Eliminated by Rowden

We caught this hand just as Chad Batista was gathering his belongings and leaving the tournament area. Kerry Rowden had raised from early position and action folded around to Batista in the big blind. Batista shoved with his short stack and Rowden called.

Batista: {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}
Rowden: {6-} {6-}

The board ran {9-Spades} {3-Clubs} {5-Spades} {8-Spades} {7-} and Rowden's straight eliminated Batista.

Iacovone Tops Nguyen Again

Earlier, a player exposed his {a-Spades}{k-Spades} to Michael Iacovone and the floor was called over to give him a warning. Iacovone got there against his opponent and a similar situation just occured.

Iacovone moved all in for 17,700 in middle position. The same player who received the warning earlier reraised to 25,000 next to act and action folded around to the player in the big blind who began to tank. The floor was called over again on the opponent when he declared that he did not have Ace-King. He was given another warning but no penalty because it was due to different circumstances. Eventually the player in the big blind folded, claiming to have Jacks.

Iacovone: {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

The flop was {8-Spades}{9-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and again Iacovone had come from behind. The turn {k-Clubs} and river {j-Diamonds} shipped the pot to Iacovone, who seems to have the number of the player to his left early on Day 2.

Big Pairs, Bigger Flop

Joe Hook opened for 3,100 from early position and Dave Leonard called from the cutoff. Action passed to Bob Brunton in the small blind and he raised to 8,500. Hook moved all in for 17,800 more and Leonard thought for minute while counting his stack.

Leonard released his hand and Brunton called, tabling {K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}. Hook turned over {A-Hearts} {A-Diamonds} and watched the board run {9-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs}. Hook's set of aces chipped him up to almost 40,000.

Iacovone Gets Lucky

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The player first to act raised to 4,500 and action folded around to Michael Iacovone in the big blind. However, the initial raiser thought that everyone had folded and tabled {a-Spades}{k-Spades}. The floor was called over and Iacovone was told he could still play his hand against the face up hand if he wished. Indeed he did wish to play his hand as he moved all in for his last 9,300.

The opponent threw in 4,800 more to make the call and almost surprised to see he was well ahead of Iacovone's {q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. The flop was {2-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds} though and Iacovone jumped into the lead. The {8-Hearts} turn and {6-Diamonds} river kept him there and he doubled up to 21,000.

Schwartz Outflops Schwalich

The player in the hijack opened for 2,100 and Jason Schwartz called from the cutoff. Action passed to Scott Schwalich on the button and raised to 7,000. The blinds released and the other two players came along. The flop fell {5-Clubs} {7-Hearts} {2-Hearts}, the hijack and Schwartz checked and Schwalich bet out 7,200. The hijack folded and Schwartz moved all in for just over 21,000.

Schwalich called tabled {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} and Schwartz showed him the bad news when he turned over {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds} for top set. The board completed {6-Clubs} {2-Clubs} and Schwartz moved up to 70,000.
