Pocket Nines vs. Pocket Fours

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Norman Rodriquez opened in early position for 12,500 and the player in the big blind called. The flop came {9-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}, the big blind checked and Rodriguez bet 13,500. The big blind raised to 30,000 and Rodriguez snap-shoved.

The big blind called and didn't want to show his hand after Rodriguez tabled pocket nines. The dealer flipped his hand, pocket fours, and ran the rest of the board - {8-Spades} {8-Hearts}.

The Good Die Young

The action folded to Orson Young in the small blind who moved all in for around 90,000. Ryan Higgins tank-called in the big blind, and the hands were opened.

Showdown

Young{a-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Higgins{a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The {4-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop was interesting because it gave Young a pair of nines, but he only had a 53% advantage according to the PokerNews Odds Calculator.

The turn was red, but the {6-Diamonds} did not improve Higgins' hand. The {10-Diamonds} on the river did however, and it also eliminated Young from the tournament.

Higgins is now flirting with 400,000 chips, while Young is off to the cage to collect some cash.

Bell Busts

Chris Bell was crippled right before the dinner break, and came back with just 1,000 chips. Half of it went towards the ante, and the other half went in when the action folded to him in the cutoff. A player on the button raised to 13,000, and the blinds released.

Bell was trailing with {10-Diamonds}{6-Spades} against his opponent's {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and the board ran {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{k-Spades}, eliminating him from the tournament.
