Getzwiller Avoids the Suckout

According to a spectator, Sean Getzwiller had four limps in front of him when he looked down at his hand in the small blind. He moved all in for about 140,000 and was called by Jeff Fielder in the big blind. The other players folded.

Getzwiller: {j-}{j-}
Fielder: {2-}{2-}

The flop nearly crushed Getzwiller when it came down {2-}{3-}{8-}. But the turn and river were both three's to give Getzwiller a better full house and ship him the pot.

Zigulis Wins the Race

A player in early position limped in before Jeff Zigulis moved all in right behind him. Shortly after, another player moved all in over the top and and everyone else got out of the way.

Zigulis: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}

The flop was {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{10-Hearts} to give Zigulis a flop right off the bat, although it seemed to take him a few second to realize. However, the {q-Clubs} on the turn made things really interesting. While this was going on, another player claimed to have folded {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a would-be strait flush.

When the river fell the {9-Spades}, Zigulis was able to take a breath and count his new found stack all the way up to 235,000.

Kuether Coming Back Down To Earth

About 30 minutes ago, we reporter that Joe Kuether was the big chip leader, sitting on 900,000. Well he has lost some chips since then, including a good amount in back to back hands recently.

In the first hand, we saw that Kuether was heads up with Allen Carter in a big pot. It was on the river when we got there, reading {3-Spades}{a-Clubs}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}, and Kuether had bet out 36,000 in to the pot, which had 85,000 in it. Carter counted out a raise to 120,000, and slid it into the middle. Kuether thought for about 20 seconds before letting his hand go.

On the next hand, Kuether min raised in early position, and got three callers, until the small blind moved all in for 56,000 total. It folded back to Kuether, who isolated by throwing in a stack of red T10,000 chips. Everyone folded, and the cards were flipped.

Kuether: {k-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Opponent: {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

Kuether was crushed, but got a glimmer of hope when the flop came out {j-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. That glimmer woudln't come through though, as the turn brought the {6-Diamonds}, and the river brought the {4-Hearts}. After the hand, Kuether is back down with the rest of the players, but is still around the chip lead with 650,000.

Fielder Busts Acker

Tim Acker's quick rise at the beginning of the day didn't last. He was down to about 50,000 and in the big blind. Jeff Fielder limped his button, the player in the small blind completed and Acker checked his option.

The flop came down {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. The first two players checked to Fielder and he fired 8,500. The next player folded before Acker immediately moved all in for 39,500 more. Fielder contemplated a bit before making the call.

Acker: {7-}{3-}
Fielder: {10-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The turn was the {j-Clubs} which made it look like the two players were going to chop. However, the {10-Spades} river was just what Fielder needed to scoop the pot and eliminate his opponent.

Carter Moving On Up

Allen Carter has been slowly accumulating chips since just before the bubble, and he has just busted another player to get up to almost 400,000. As we got to the table, the cards had just been tabled, as Carter's opponent was all in preflop.

Carter: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The board was safe for Carter the whole way, running out {7-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Carter scooped the pot, and is building his stack back up, becoming a big threat in this tournament.

Kroon Gets Some Luck From Hellmuth

Shortly after Hellmuth walked away from his conversation with Mark Kroon, fireworks occured. We saw Kroon get up from his seat while asking the dealer to count the stack of his opponent. Before the dealer could even reach across the table, Kroon beat him to it and called.

The board read {4-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and it was the {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} of Kroon leading the {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts} of his opponent. The turn was the {j-Spades} and officially ended things.

Kroon yelled to Hellmuth, who was standing at a nearby table, about the luck he had just brought him as he raked in his new found chips.

Boyd Reluctant

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

We caught the action on the turn of a {5-Hearts}{10-Spades}{q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} board contested between the player in the big blind position and Dutch Boyd, who was in middle position. The player first to act fired out 17,000 and after a minute or two of thought and what appeared to be ideas of a reraise, Boyd called.

The river was the {9-Diamonds} and this time the opponent fired out 24,000. Boyd thought for about 5 minutes, clearly pained by the decision. He made the call and his opponent tabled {k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. Boyd could only muck his hand and watch the chips go the other way.
