An Orbit with Scotty Nguyen

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Scotty Nguyen the Prince of Poker. Baby.
Scotty Nguyen the Prince of Poker. Baby.

The Prince of Poker himself is seated not far from our work station. We have overheard "Baby" and his signature laugh too many times to count. He's the most experienced player in the room and isn't afraid to show it - he's wearing his WSOP Main Event bracelet AND his $50,000 Players Championship bracelet today.

Hand 1 - Nguyen is on the button and folded preflop. His stack is at 23,500. After the hand there was a dealer change and Nguyen said, "Go destroy them over there, baby."

Hand 2 - He folded preflop, stands up from his chair and walks around. He slapped the player in the 1 seat on the back and talked to him.

Hand 3 - He folded preflop and answered a text message. We couldn't see if he answers every text message with a "Baby."

Hand 4 - He folded preflop and was shuffling a chip across his knuckles. He leaned over and was talking to the player in the 8 seat in hushed tones, but then laughed out loud.

Hand 5 - He folded preflop, looked across the table and asked a player, "Where you from, baby?" He replied a suburb of Chicago and Nguyen shrugged his shoulders. We're guessing he doesn't get to the Windy City much.

Hand 6 - He folded preflop and answered another text message.

Hand 7 - From under the gun he opened to 2,500 and found one caller out of the small blind. The flop came {5-Clubs} {3-Spades} {Q-Clubs}. The small blind bet 4,000 and Nguyen quickly moved all in. "Just over 20,000, baby." The small blind folded and Nguyen took the pot.

Hand 8 - Action folded around to Nguyen in the big blind after the UTG player opened for 3,000. Nguyen turned up {3-Clubs} {2-Clubs} and said, "Can you beat that, baby?" as he folded.

Hand 9 - A middle position player opened for 2,500 and the player in the cutoff shoved all in. Nguyen slowly squeezed his cards and then folded. Baby.
