Day 3 Started

All Eyes on the Final Table

Justin Wainscott is the man to beat today.
Justin Wainscott is the man to beat today.

It's Day 3 here at the World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event at Harrah's New Orleans and the returning 72 players all have their eyes set on the final table. Play ended when the field hit the money last night making for a relatively short day. Justin Wainscott returns as the chip leader with a comfortable lead over the field.

Everyone returning today is guaranteed at least $2,797, but that payday is nominal compared to the $19,156 reserved for a final table min-cash. Today's schedule of play will see the field play down to nine and then return for a Championship table tomorrow.

An accomplished field of pros and WSOPC regulars remain in the field; including: Andrew Nguyen, Darvin Moon, Conrad Monica, Maurice Hawkins, Daniel Lowery, Michael Linster, Kat Bowen, Matt Chang, Russell Ivy and "Captain" Tom Franklin.

Play is scheduled to return with blinds at 3,000/6,000 with a 1,000 ante. Cards will be in the air at 2 p.m. local time and follow all the action live on PokerNews.com.

Shuffle Up and Deal!

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The final 72 players are in their seats here at Harrah's New Orleans and the cards are in the air. Tournament officials have announced that we will play down to a final table of nine no matter how long it takes.

Early Double for Bowen

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Shain Matthews opened for 14,000 under the gun only to have Kat Bowen move all in for 60,000 more from middle position. The rest of the field folded back to Matthews and he made the call.

Showdown

Matthews{10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Bowen{A-Hearts}{A-Spades}

It was a welcome treat for Bowen to pick up pocket rockets just minutes into the day, and they'd propel her to around 150,000 when the board ran out {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{6-Hearts}.

Osterkam Runs Into Kings

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Henry Osterkam open-shoved for 75,000 under the gun holding {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} and was immediately three-bet by Lance Simon, who held {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. The isolation worked and Osterkam was in need of some major help. He found a little on the {J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}, but he needed more if he was going to stay alive.

The {7-Diamonds} was not what he was looking for, and neither was the {3-Clubs} river. With that, Osterkam made his exit in 69th place.

The Captain Sets Sail

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Tom Franklin
Tom Franklin

A short-stacked "Captain" Tom Franklin moved all in from early position and received a call from Shawn Quillin. "I only looked at one card," Franklin admitted and showed the {A-Hearts}. "Come on ace," he pleaded when he revealed the other card, a measly {3-Spades}. Quillin then rolled over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and left the Captain looking for an ace.

The {10-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades} flop was nothing exciting, and neither was the {J-Diamonds} turn. Franklin needed help on the river to stay alive, and while the {3-Clubs} paired him, it wasn't enough to give him the win. With that, the "Captain" has departed.

Meanwhile, Kevin Eyster and Shain Matthews have both been eliminated from the tournament.

Burt Chips Up to Top of Counts

Level 19 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante
Tim Burt, your new chipleader.
Tim Burt, your new chipleader.

Tim Burt opened from under the gun to 13,000 and Jerry Good called behind him. The blinds released and the flop came {7-} {8-} {9-}, Burt checked, Good shipped all in for around 280,000 and Burt called.

Burt turned up pocket kings and Good tabled pocket queens. The board bricked and Burt looks to have taken the chip lead from Wainscott.
