Vedes Vanishes

Three players saw a flop of {q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, including Tommy Vedes and Marlon Gabriel. The action checked to Gabriel, who fired 2,500. Only Vedes called.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, Vedes checked again, and Gabriel tossed out a single grey T5,000 chip. Vedes moved all in for a little over a min-raise, and Gabriel quickly called.

Vedes: {q-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Gabriel: {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The river was the {4-Hearts}, and Vedes was eliminated. Gabriel now sits with over 50,000 chips.

"Is there a three-buy?" Vedes joked with our reporter as he exited the room.

657 Runners So Far on Day 1b

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

The tournament clock currently says the number of entrants for the tournament stands at 1,123. Minus the 466 from yesterday, and that means 657 runners have turned out thus far for Day 1b. Registration is open until the start of Level 13.

Winner of Largest-Ever WSOP Circuit Main Event Eliminated

Last season at the 2011-2012 World Series of Poker Circuit Horseshoe Hammond Main Event, Bob Chow played four days of poker and navigated a field of 1,615 players before laying claim to a gold ring and the $393,584 first-place prize. The tournament was the largest in WSOP Circuit Main Event history, creating a $2,349,825 prize pool, which means no player has overcome more competition in a WSOP Circuit than Chow.

This stop won't catch that year's field, but the massive turnout here in Choctaw has already established it as one of the top five stops in history. Unfortunately for Chow, he won't be conquering this field as he was just eliminated.

Chow, who played yesterday and failed to advance, apparently held a straight against an opponent who had flopped a set. The board ended up pairing and Chow's day came to an end just shy of the second break.

More for Mario

Mario Silvestri opened to 675 from under the gun. A player on his direct left three-bet to 1,700, and the action folded back to Silvestri. He examined his opponent's stack, then put in a four-bet to 4,100.

The player grimaced, then moved all in for around 11,000 or so. Silvestri immediately called.

Silvestri: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

"Look at these wizards stacking off with ace-ten," Justin Kruger said away from the table.

The dealer fanned {4-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}, giving Silvestri's opponent a flush draw.

"Ace," Kruger said.

The turn wasn't an ace or a diamond, but it was the {10-Hearts}, giving the player even more outs to catch up.

Unfortunately for the gentleman, the {3-Clubs} on the river was a big fat brick and he was eliminated. Silvestri now has around 60,000 chips.

"I ain't gunna lie," Kruger said, sitting back down at his seat. "I was rooting for him."

Silvestri could only laugh.

Silvestri's Big Bet on the River Gets the Job Done

Mario Silvestri
Mario Silvestri

Just before the level went up, we caught a hand involving Mario Silvestri. We picked up the action on the turn with approximately 5,000 in the pot and a board reading {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. A player in middle position checked and Silvestri took the opportunity to bet 3,500. His opponent called and then promptly checked the {2-Spades} on the river.

Silvestri asked for a count of his opponent's stack and then took his time before betting 8,000, which proved enough to take down the pot as the middle-position player rapped the table and sent his hand to the dealer.

Hill Doubles

Faced with a 6,000-chip bet on a board of {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, Jonathan Hill moved all in for 10,525. The player tanked for 30 seconds or so, visibly upset abou being pot-committed, and made the call.

Hill: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}
Opponent: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

The river was the {4-Clubs}, and Hill doubled.
