Singontiko Gets Picked Off

Shawn Daniels opened up the action in late position to 6,500, and David Singontiko called from the button. The big blind also tagged along, and the three saw the dealer fan out a {a-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop. It checked through, and the turn brought the {3-Spades}.

The big blind led out for 11,000, and while Daniels got out of the way, Singontiko tagged along to see the river. That card was the {6-Spades}, and the big blind checked. Singontiko saw the opportunity to bet, and he put out 23,100. His opponent immediately looked pained by the decision, and he tanked for about a minute before sliding in the call.

Singontiko sheepishly said "I have a four," and his opponent opened up {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} for a flopped pair that made a flush on the river. After that hand, Singontiko is getting low, sitting on just 37,000.

Lynda Tran Looking Down On The Rest

Level 17 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante
Harrah's Rincon
Harrah's Rincon

And that’s a wrap for Day 1b! It was an exciting, action packed Saturday as 175 players piled into the poker room today to take their shot at the Rincon Main Event Title. Of those 175 players, only 25 remain, and they are led by Lynda Tran. She bagged up 331,000 chips to end the night, which amazingly, is just two antes more than the 330,000 that David Randall, the Day 1a chip leader, bagged up. She is followed by former November Niner Soi Nguyen, who ends the night with 298,000.

Tran got that big stack by winning a huge hand in Level 16. Action started with the player under the gun moving all in for 32,000. Arthur Hahn was next to act, and he quickly moved all in for over 225,000! Action folded to Tran, and she peaked down at her cards. She didn't fold them immediately, and it was very clear she had a big hand.

"You got aces?" Tran asked Hahn. "I can't tell you," he replied. Tran wanted to know how much Hahn had, and he replied "I got you covered honey. I got the whole room covered!" After about three minutes of tanking, Hahn said "I never called the clock on anyone ever," as if to hint for another player at the table to do so.

After about five minutes of tanking, Tran tossed in some chips, and said "Call!". The rest of the table folded, and the three players tabled their cards.

Tran: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Hahn: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

Tran made the right call with the kings, and she stayed out in front as the board ran down {j-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Tran eliminated the all in player, and also collected the double up to run her stack all the way up to 405,000!

Several big names came and went in today’s action. There will be a new champion here at Rincon, as Joseph Kuether bowed out in Level 16 when his {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} ran into another players aces. In addition to Kuether, we also lost Matt Affleck, Alex Masek, Dwyte Pilgrim, Kathy Liebert, and Matt Slasburg.

Despite losing all those pros, we still have a few who will be coming back with us tomorrow. Former bracelet winner David Singontiko is still alive with 46,500, as well as Chad Brown (59,000), Shawn Daniels (78,000), and Tripp Kirk (171,000).

We are down to our final 43 players, as the 25 from today will meet up with the 18 from yesterday. Those players will come back tomorrow at noon to play down to a final table. We will see you tomorrow! Thanks for staying tuned to Pokernews, and good night!
