Kellner Can't Bluff It

The flop read {3-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and two players checked to Kelly Kellner on the button who also checked behind. The {5-Diamonds} rolled off on fourth street and the first player to act tapped the table. The next player bet 1,600 and Kellner wasted no time calling. The first player folded and we were heads up to see the final card.

The river brought the {5-Diamonds} and it was checked to Kellner. He fired out 3,300 and his opponent called. Kellner showed {Q-Clubs}{J-Clubs} for nothing but a busted straight draw while his opponent tabled {10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for kings and tens. With this hit, Kellner is now down to about 16,000.

Cheung Building

On a flop of {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, the first player to act checked to Robert Cheung who fired out 700. The button called and the player who checked got rid of his hand.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and the action went check-check, prompting the dealer to produce the {A-Clubs} on the river. Cheung dipped into his stack and came out with a bet of 1,475. His opponent called and showed {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} for a flush draw that turned into a pair of aces.

Cheung, however, held {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for two pair and he was able to scoop up the pot. Cheung is now sitting on about 34,000.

Mueller's Queen Is Better

On a {Q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} flop, Greg Mueller was heads up with an opponent. His opponent bet 1,200 and Mueller called with little hesitation.

The {2-Hearts} hit the turn and this time Mueller's opponent brought out the big guns with a bet of 5,600. Once again, however, Mueller decided to stick around.

The river was the {9-Spades} and they both checked their option.

"Queen," said Mueller's opponent.

"Me too," replied Mueller, tabling what was in fact the best queen - {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}.

His opponent flashed {Q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} before throwing away his hand. With this win, Mueller is now sitting on about 40,000 in chips.

Smith Active

Gavin Smith had triple a starting stack by the first break of this tournament, but we noticed that he recently depleted many of those chips. When we just caught up with Smith, however, we saw that he was on the comeback from that fall from grace.

The board read {10-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Smith's lone opponent bet 800. Smith called to see a third lady- the {Q-Clubs} - hit the river. A check to Smith prompted him to bet 2,100 and his opponent reluctantly called. Smith showed {10-Spades}{9-Spades} for queens full of tens and his opponent threw away his hand. Smith is now at about 45,000 in chips.

Cooler Cripples Smith

We caught up to see the aftermath of a hand that has crippled World Series of Poker bracelet winner Gavin Smith. A player was all in and at risk holding {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} against Smith's {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

The board fell down {8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{8-Spades} and the pocket aces were able to hold, forcing Smith to ship a little over 11,000 over to his opponent. Smith has now been crippled to about 7,500.
