WSOP International Circuit Main Event Day 1b Set to Get Underway

Day 1a Chip Leader Lambros Vrakas
Day 1a Chip Leader Lambros Vrakas

After 234 entrants took part in Day 1a of the Main Event yesterday, today is the final chance for players to grab their own personal slice of the €1 million guarantee on offer. Players who entered and subsequently re-entered yesterday are still able to enter today, but if they are forced to re-enter again, then they are no long able to buy in at the start of Day 2.

Yesterday it was Lambros Vrakas who soared to the top of the chip counts with 249,500, more than 40,000 chips ahead of second place Grzegorz Idziak. Today players will have twelve 45-minute levels to try and match Vrakas' stack ahead of Day 2, with 15-minute breaks after level 3 and level 9, with a 45-minute dinner break coming at the conclusion of level 6.

Stay tuned to PokerNews for all today's live updates.

Numbers are steadily increasing with 137 entries now.

They include Thomas “The Talk” Traboulsi who played yesterday but didn’t bag up chips so he is back for a second bite.

On his first bullet is Martin Staszko who has just sat down to play as he was in the high roller yesterday.

Bracelet Winner Joerg Peisert Up and Running

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante
Joerg Peisert
Joerg Peisert

Joerg Peisert won a bracelet in the No Limit Hold'em - Triple Chance back in 2009, and has been playing a lot more at King's Casino recently, with a deep run in the PokerStars Festival Main Event last month.

In this hand a player opened from the hijack. The small blind called and Peisert defended his big blind.

The flop came {6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and it checked to the pre-flop raiser who continued for 600. Both the small blind and Peisert called.

The turn was the {6-Hearts}. Again it checked to the raiser who bet 1,700, and Peisert was the only caller.

The river was another six, the {6-Clubs} and both players checked. The hijack turned over {8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for a straight, but Peisert rolled over {8-Clubs}{4-Spades} for a full house and scooped the pot.

Double Elimination for Tom Holke

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante
Tom Holke
Tom Holke

A player from under-the-gun raised to 700. Tom Holke then raised to 2,000. Georgios Koliofotis called before Marko Maher moved all in for around 16,000. The under the gun player folded and Holke moved all in himself. Koliofotis then moved all in.

Maher: {7-}{7-}
Koliofotis: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}
Holke: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

It was a big all in with Holke holding the most chips of the three players, and the flop was a good one for him as it came {a-}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} giving him top pair and the nut-flush draw. The turn and river were both bricks sending Maher and yesterday's WSOPC High Roller champion Georgios Koliofotis to the rail.

Martin Staszko opened from middle position and was three-bet from the button by Matias Knaapinen to 3,000. Staszko called and the pair saw a flop of {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}.

Staszko check-called a bet of 3,600 and the {6-Clubs} came on the turn. Again Staszko checked and Knaapinen bet 6,000. Staszko raised all in and Knaapinen called. Knaapinen showed {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and Staszko turned over {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}.

"I almost folded," said Staszko, as the {k-Spades} was dealt on the river.

Run Kabrhel Run!

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante
Martin Kabrhel Multi Tabling
Martin Kabrhel Multi Tabling

Martin Kabrhel dashed across the casino floor from where he is playing the 6-Max to his stack at the Main Event and opened for 2,100. He picked up calls from Thoms Traboulsi and Kimmo Kurko in the big blind.

They saw a flop of {7-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{10-Hearts} which was checked around. The turn card was the {8-Hearts} and Kabrhel had a stab for 3,200. Traboulsi and Kurko called.

No action on the {8-Clubs} river and Kurko showed {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} to take the pot.

An unimpressed Traboulsi slammed down his losing {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and Kabrhel had a brief chuckle before dashing off again to his other table.

Marian Flesar Tops WSOPC Main Event Day 1b For Overall Lead

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Overall Chip Leader Marian Flesar
Overall Chip Leader Marian Flesar

Day 1b of the €1,650 entry €1,000,000 guarantee WSOPC Main Event at the King’s Casino Rozvadov got underway at 2pm today as the poker festival approaches its climax.

Some of the famous faces in the field looking to grab a slice of that huge prizepool included some legends of the World Series of Poker in Martin Stasko, Pierre Neuville and a more recent November Niner in Vojtech Ruzicka who late registered after failing to bag chips yesterday.

One of the younger guns looking to follow in their footsteps was Czech Republic’s Martin Kabrhel and he provided the entertainment for the poker room as he was two tabling both the 6-Max and the Main Event.

Kabrhel quickly bust his first bullet in the Main Event shortly after the dinner break with the fourth hand he played when he got it in with Ace-Jack versus Tens and bricked out. He then re-entered and was again running between tables level after level to see as many hands as possible. It was a valiant attempt to sportify poker but he was eliminated shortly before the last level of the day.

Other notables at the tables were Matthias De Meulder, Marcin Horecki, Tom Holke, and Catalin Pop and Thomas “The Talk” Traboulsi.

Marian Flesar ended the day as chip leader after 12 levels of play with 271,700 followed by former EPT 2016 Barcelona Champion Sebastian Malec on 250,200 and third was Jacques Baily on 234,700.

That means Flesnar will lead Day 2 as Lambros Vrakas from Greece ended Day 1a on 249,500.

Some of the other stacks from today to look out for tomorrow include Josef Snejberg (228,000), Thomas Traboulsi (148,700), Dimitri Urbanovitch (64,400) and Stasko who made it through with 61,500 and Pierre Neuville who squeaked through on 47,900 after losing a couple of late hands with pocket kings and pocket jacks.

Day 1b ended up attracting a total of 381 entries with 160 players progressing to join the 87 survivors from Day 1a. Day 1a had a total of 234 entries with 87 players bagging up chips.

The number of entries required to hit the €1,000,000 guarantee is 667 which means they are currently 53 short of that figure, but entry is still open until the start of Day 2 for those who didn’t re-enter Day 1b.

The full list of chip counts and the seat draw for Day 2 will be published shortly before play resumes as the combined field gathers tomorrow at the largest card room in Europe for cards in the air 2pm. They will play 10 hour long levels as the road to crowning a new champion continues and the PokerNews live reporting team will bring you all the action from the felt as it happens.
