Sidney Steinmann Ends Day 2 as Chip Leader

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Sidney Steinmann
Sidney Steinmann

The day is done and the field size has been reduced to just 31 hopefuls. The Main Event at the 2018 WSOP International Circuit Holland Casino Rotterdam started on Day 2 with 97 players out of 181 entries. Sidney Steinmann ended the day with the chip lead as he bagged 498,500. He is closely followed by Govert Metaal (470,000) and Jay Oosterbaan (450,000). The money bubble has yet to burst as only 21 players will end up in the money and will be guaranteed to take home at least €2,888. The winner will walk away with €67,766.

Day 2 Action
The day started at 1 p.m. local time and the first bust-out happened in just the second hand of the day. Alex van der Werf managed to eliminate Dominik Kulicki with ace-queen against ace-ten. The board ran out without anything spectacular on there and Van der Werf collected the first scalp of the day. Van der Werf ended the day with a stack of 142,500. Steinmann had the best day of them all as he started the day with 110,700 and ended it with the chip lead, bagging 498,500. High Roller Metaal ended the day in second place when he bagged 470,000. Oosterbaan was very surprised to learn at the end of the day that he had collected a stack of 450,000, enough to claim the third place on the leaderboard.

Plenty of players weren't able to bag a stack for Day 3. Some of the players that got eliminated along the way include Albert Hoekendijk, Louis Salter, Pim Gieles, Teun Kooij, and two-time bracelet winner Mark Radoja. Radoja lost a pot where he and his opponent both had top pair but Radoja had the lower kicker. Shortly after that he busted out of the tournament. Record holder Valentin Vornicu also didn't' make it to Day 3. Vornicu is here in Rotterdam to try and win his 13th WSOP Circuit ring. He immediately jumped into the €550 Monster Stack tournament to get another shot at WSOP Circuit gold.

Other players that did make Day 3 include Day 1c chip leader Brian Kamphorst (283,000), Tobias Peters (255,000), Day 1a chip leader Marco Rodrigues (209,000), High Roller runner-up Kevin Paque (132,000) and Sander van Wesemael (88,000). They're all gunning for that first place prize of €67,766, but before they have a chance of winning the tournament the first step is to reach the money tomorrow as 11 more players need to be eliminated before the money is reached.

The tournament will continue on Friday, September 6, at 1 p.m. local time and they plan to play down to a final table. PokerNews will be on site to report on the action.

Four More Hands

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The staff just announced that they will only play four more hands until they will bag and tag. There are 32 players remaining now and if it stays that way they'll start tomorrow 11 players from the money.

Metaal Extends Chip Lead

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Brian Kamphorst opened the action from the cutoff with a raise to 8,500. Small blind Govert Metaal three-bet to 28,000 and the player in the big blind got out of the way. Kamphorst called the bet.

The flop came down {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Metaal continued with a bet of 16,000. Kamphorst called again and the turn card was the {9-Clubs}. This time the bet from Metaal was a little bit bigger. He put in a bet of 45,000 and that was a bit too much for Kamphorst who threw his cards in the muck.

Metaal With the Hero Call

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Govert Metaal
Govert Metaal

Govert Metaal is a household name in the poker industry. Metaal played all over the world and is now gunning for the WSOP circuit Main Event title and the ring. He just made an incredible call in a huge pot against High Roller runner-up Kevin Paque.

Paque bet 20,000 on the {4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} board and Metaal called. The {4-Hearts} river completed the board and Paque fired a huge bet of 100,000 on the river. Metaal thought about it before making the call.

Paque tabled {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for ace-high and Metaal showed {A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for just a pair of sixes. Metaal is now the current chip leader in the tournament.

Auer Gets a Shove Through

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Farid Chati has one of the bigger stacks in the field and Robert Auer has one of the shorter stacks in the field. The former opened and the latter jammed all in.

Chati gave up and Auer now has a bit more than 20 big blinds. The tournament is twelve spots away from the money and the mincash is worth €2,888.

Cordeille Makes Heinze Fold

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Olvedo Heinze
Olvedo Heinze

Olvedo Heinze completed his small blind to see the flop, but Stephane Cordeille didn't check his option. He raised to 12,000 and Heinze called.

The flop was {5-Spades}{6-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and Heinze check-called a bet of 13,000 from Cordeille. The turn was the {7-Diamonds} and both players checked. The {4-Clubs} completed the wet board and Heinze opted to lead with a big bet of 57,000. Cordeille announced "all in", which was for about 125,000, and Heinze let out a sigh. He thought about it for a minute but let go of his hand to send the pot to Cordeille.
