Day 2 action
Ten players needed to bust out of the tournament for the remaining players to reach the money and it took a little over two hours. The first player to exit the tournament was Henok Tekle Mariam. Sander van Wesemael managed to double up through Tekle Mariam and left him behind very short stacked. Van Wesemael also took Tekle Mariam’s last chips and sent him to the rail. Van Wesemael himself didn’t manage to make the money, despite running up his short stack to well over average. He ran his ten-high flush into the queen-high flush of Jer el Salsero for a huge pot. Marco den Blanken, Day 1a chip leader Marco Rodrigues, Kevin Paque, and Jan Jansma all were eliminated before the money was reached.

Roger Peetoom busted out of the tournament on the bubble after an unfortunate turn card. In a three-bet pot, he managed to turn top set. When the money got in he saw he was behind against Tobias Peters his flopped nut-flush. The river didn’t pair the board and Peetoom was the last player to exit the tournament without cashing.

The players decided to put the pedal on the metal when the money was reached and the players busted out in quick fashion. Robert Auer (21st - €2,888) was the first to collect money. Marcel Schouten (18th - €3,404), Farid Chati (€4,701), and Alex van der Werf (14th - €4,071) all busted out soon after Auer. El Salsero busted out in 12th place, banking €4,944 after he got his chips in the middle while he was drawing dead. The board in the three-bet pot was five-ten-jack-eight with three hearts on there and he three-bet all in. Bart Beenen called with a flush and El Salsero was drawing dead with his pair of kings, no hearts. Valeriy Chupin was the last player to miss out on the final table. The Russian couldn’t win with queen-ten against the pocket eights of Brian Kamphorst.

The unofficial final table started with ten players, but it only took a minute for it to become nine-handed. Wim Emo was very short and lost his last chips with jack-nine suited against the pocket eights of Peters. Emo collected €4,944 at the cashier for his tenth place finish.

The tournament slowed down severely after the elimination of Emo. It took about an hour until the next elimination took place and Bap de Haas was the unfortunate player who had to exit the tournament in 9th place. De Haas moved all in from the button for his last 6 big blinds with eight-four off suit and he wasn’t able to hit anything on the flop against the king-queen of Jacco van Hooren. The 9th place was worth €6,099.

Govert Metaal collected €7,645 at the payout desk after he was eliminated in a very brutal way. At first, Metaal looked like a lucky man after hitting an ace on the flop with his ace-king against the pocket kings of Van Hooren. There was one out left in the deck and Van Hooren managed to hit the case king on the turn. Metaal didn’t hit one of two aces left in the deck on the river and the High Roller from The Hague was eliminated, besting his 9th place finish in this exact event from last year.

Sidney Steinmann was the last player to exit on Day 3 of the Main Event. Steinmann collected €9,735 after it folded to him on the button and he moved all in from the small blind with king-queen. He was called by big stack Cordeille who was holding pocket tens. The board ran out clean for Cordeille to send home the Day 2 chip leader.

Govert Metaal

Jacco van Hooren raised from early position to 40,000 and when it folded to Govert Metaal in late position he moved all in for a total of 164,000. Van Hooren called and Metaal had a tough task ahead of him.

Govert Metaal: {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}
Jacco van Hooren: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The flop was very good for Metaal as he had his opponent drawing to one out as the {A-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} came down. The turn was that one single out as the {K-Spades} landed on the turn. The river was the {4-Clubs} and Metaal busted out in 8th place. He improved on his 9th place finish in this event last year and gets to collect €7,645.

Jer el Salsero Eliminated in 12th Place (€4,944)

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Jer el Salsero
Jer el Salsero

Bart Beenen raised from the under the gun position to 22,000 and one seat to the left it was Jer el Salsero who three-bet to 45,000. The other players at the table folded and Beenen called.

The flop came down {5-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and Beenen check-called a bet of 30,000 from El Salsero. The turn was the {8-Hearts} and that's when everything went to the middle. Beenen checked to see El Salsero put in a bet of 40,000. Beenen raised to 110,000 and El Salsero snap-moved all in. Beenen called even quicker and they opened up.

Bart Beenen: {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Jer el Salsero: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

El Salsero was drawing dead when he got his money in the middle and the {A-Hearts} river was a courtesy. El Salsero gets to collect €4,944 but he has to miss out on a spot at the final table.

Alex van der Werf
Alex van der Werf

Alex van der Werf was at risk when he was all in for his last 171,000 with {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} against the {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} of big blind Stephane Cordeille.

The {8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} flop was very good for Van der Werf and he was in even better shape to double up when the {K-Clubs} turn came down. The {9-Diamonds}, however, crushed Van der Werf his dream of becoming the Main Event champion and he left the featured table with his hands on his head.

Van der Werf gets to collect €4,071 for his efforts.

Zeus Post and Majid Bozakraft Eliminated in 16th and 17th Place (€3,404)

Majid Bozakraft
Majid Bozakraft

Zeus Post and Majid Bozakraft were both eliminated in the same hand.

Zeus Post moved all in for 125,000 with {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and right behind him was Oghuzan Yildiz. Yildiz called all in for 1,000 points less than Post with {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}. The dealer dealt a {2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} board and Post was left with just one ante.

In the next hand Post was all in and Majid Bozakraft moved all in with {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. Jay Oosterbaan did the same with {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. The dealer spread the {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} board and both Post and Bozakraft couldn't beat the queens of Oosterbaan.
