Sidney Steinmann Ends Day 2 as Chip Leader

Level 16 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Sidney Steinmann
Sidney Steinmann

The day is done and the field size has been reduced to just 31 hopefuls. The Main Event at the 2018 WSOP International Circuit Holland Casino Rotterdam started on Day 2 with 97 players out of 181 entries. Sidney Steinmann ended the day with the chip lead as he bagged 498,500. He is closely followed by Govert Metaal (470,000) and Jay Oosterbaan (450,000). The money bubble has yet to burst as only 21 players will end up in the money and will be guaranteed to take home at least €2,888. The winner will walk away with €67,766.

Day 2 Action
The day started at 1 p.m. local time and the first bust-out happened in just the second hand of the day. Alex van der Werf managed to eliminate Dominik Kulicki with ace-queen against ace-ten. The board ran out without anything spectacular on there and Van der Werf collected the first scalp of the day. Van der Werf ended the day with a stack of 142,500. Steinmann had the best day of them all as he started the day with 110,700 and ended it with the chip lead, bagging 498,500. High Roller Metaal ended the day in second place when he bagged 470,000. Oosterbaan was very surprised to learn at the end of the day that he had collected a stack of 450,000, enough to claim the third place on the leaderboard.

Plenty of players weren't able to bag a stack for Day 3. Some of the players that got eliminated along the way include Albert Hoekendijk, Louis Salter, Pim Gieles, Teun Kooij, and two-time bracelet winner Mark Radoja. Radoja lost a pot where he and his opponent both had top pair but Radoja had the lower kicker. Shortly after that he busted out of the tournament. Record holder Valentin Vornicu also didn't' make it to Day 3. Vornicu is here in Rotterdam to try and win his 13th WSOP Circuit ring. He immediately jumped into the €550 Monster Stack tournament to get another shot at WSOP Circuit gold.

Other players that did make Day 3 include Day 1c chip leader Brian Kamphorst (283,000), Tobias Peters (255,000), Day 1a chip leader Marco Rodrigues (209,000), High Roller runner-up Kevin Paque (132,000) and Sander van Wesemael (88,000). They're all gunning for that first place prize of €67,766, but before they have a chance of winning the tournament the first step is to reach the money tomorrow as 11 more players need to be eliminated before the money is reached.

The tournament will continue on Friday, September 6, at 1 p.m. local time and they plan to play down to a final table. PokerNews will be on site to report on the action.

El Salsero Doubles After Sick Runout

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

The players at table 19 just jumped up from their seats as they saw the cards being dealt after a preflop all in. Jer el Salsero was at risk with a pair of tens in his hand and he had to win against the pocket aces of Marcel Schouten. The flop that came was one out of a Hollywood movie as the dealer spread {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}{A-Spades}{3-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

Paque Takes From Radoja

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Kevin Paque
Kevin Paque

Kevin Paque raised from late position to 4,500 and Mark Radoja called from one seat over. Zeus Post also called from the big blind.

The flop came down {3-Spades}{A-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and all three players checked. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and Paque bet 9,000 after Post checked to him. Two-time bracelet winner Radoja called and Post got out of the way.

The {3-Diamonds} made the board complete and Paque fired away with a bet of 35,000. Radoja called within seconds and he saw Paque had the better hand with {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. Radoja splashed his chips in the middle to complete the amount he had to call and threw his {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} accidentally in the dealer tray.

Van Wesemael Climbing

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Sander van Wesemael
Sander van Wesemael

Sander van Wesemael was involved in a three-way pot with an all-in player. Van Wesemael, Jay Oosterbaan and another player all had 16,800 in the middle when the {5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop was dealt.

Oosterbaan checked on the flop, but Van Wesemael fired with a bet of 15,000. Oosterbaan thought about it and said that he would either shove or fold before he gave up the hand.

Van Wesemael immediately tabled {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} and it was gonna be a tough task for his opponent with {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and van Wesemael crossed the 200,000 chip mark by winning that pot.

Exit Berende

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Paul Berende
Paul Berende

Paul Berende lost his last 28,000 after a pretty sick runout and lots of cheering and shouting at his table. He moved all in and Cees-Jan Vermeulen called the all-in bet by Berende.

Paul Berende: {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Cees-Jan Vermeulen: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}

The flop was {4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Berende took the lead in the hand after a loud cheer by the entire table. The turn was the {10-Hearts} and the players made even more noise when the {10-Spades} came down to give Vermeulen quads to take down the pot.

Boyaciyan's Bluff Gets Snapped Off

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Jasper van Moorsel
Jasper van Moorsel

Farid Chati opened the action with a raise from early position to 2,600. Jasper van Moorsel called from late position, Michael Kooijman called one seat over to the left, David Boyaciyan called from the button, and Robert Auer accidentally flipped over his {9-}{3-} as he wanted to fold from the small blind. Big blind Sidney Steinmann called as well.

The flop came down {2-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and the table had a laugh about the fact that Auer would've hit top pair. It checked around on the flop by all five players.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} and when it checked to Van Moorsel he bet 7,500. David Boyaciyan was the only player that called the bet and the river came down on the board.

The river was the {6-Clubs} and Van Moorsel checked to Boyaciyan. Boyaciyan put in a bet of 12,400 and Van Moorsel was very quick with the call.

Boyaciyan showed {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for a missed flush draw and queen-high and Van Moorsel took down the pot with his {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

Pim Gieles got short very quick after the start of the day and had to take place at one of the more tougher tables here in Rotterdam. The tables is filled with Michal Mrakes, Clyde Tjauw Foe, and WSOPC Rotterdam Leaderboard leader Toan Nguyen. Gieles lost his last chips to Clyde Tjauw Foe and was eliminated from the tournament

Chupin Doubles Up

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Firoz Mangroe
Firoz Mangroe

Valeriy Chupin was in a pot with Firoz Mangroe and the two ended up getting all their chips in the middle. The board ended up being {5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Hearts} and Mangroe had {A-Spades}{K-Spades} laying in front of him. Chupin had the better hand as he had {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} for the winning hand with a pair of kings.

Chupin delivered quite the blow to Mangroe's stack as they basically swap stacks only 20 minutes into Day 2.
