Covich Traps Bogert and Gets Paid

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

There was heads up action after the flop between Cory Bogert from the cutoff and Frank Covich from the big blind.

The board read {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and Covich check-called Bogert's 3,500 bet.

The {6-Hearts} fell on the turn and Covich check-called Bogert's 4,500 bet.

The {5-Clubs} river completed the board and Covich checked his option one last time getting Bogert to shove all in. Covich snap-called and the players tabled their hands,

Cory Bogert: {a-Hearts}{k-}
Frank Covich: {q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

Covich set the trap perfectly as Bogert bet the whole way with a broadway draw while he flopped the straight which ended in a double up for Covich.

PokerNews is on site at the Ameristar St. Charles for the latest World Series of Poker Circuit stop, and while we’re only doing live updates from the $1,700 Main Event, it’s not the only tournament that’s been playing out inside the casino.

For the past week, a slew of side events has taken place and awarded gold rings to the lucky winners. One such tournament was Event #6: $400 NLH Bounty, which drew 160 runners and had a $36,800 prize pool.

Among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Jason Tang (10th - $638), Zach Hudson (15th - $542), and Heather Alcorn (18th - $474), just to name a few.

Chris Parsley, a 59-year-old retiree from Caseyville, Illinois, ultimately came out on top to collect $9,634 and his first gold ring.

“You just got to be patient and just hope that the cards fall your way. That’s all you can do, especially heads up. It’s just a lot of luck involved,” Parsley said, touching on the dynamic of playing for 14 hours.

“I usually play once a week and that’s all I play is tournaments,” Parsley added. “I love it. I love the WSOP stage. I go out to Vegas every year and play.”
