The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is in Milwaukee to live report action the $1,700 Main Event but is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

In Event #5: $250 No-Limit Hold’em Multi-Flight, 259 runners created a $51,800 prize pool that was paid out to the top 37 players including Melissa Bryne (16th - $734), David Larson (21st - $505), Chad Graves (26th - $438), Ken Baime (31st - $391), and Richard Pavlat (37th - $34$).

In the end, it was 34-year-old Danny Dombrowski of Milwaukee, Wisconsin finishing as the last player standing for $11,652 and his first ring.

“I know how poker tournaments go,” Dombrowski said after the win. “You need to win anytime you can and it feels great to get this first win under my belt here at my home casino.”

Dombrowski managed to overcome a huge chip disadvantage after a three-hour heads-up match to capture the title.

“I was down to crumbs.” Dombrowski explained. “But this is my home casino. You can’t ever give up. All my friends are here so it’s nice to have the support.”

He added: “The support was truly amazing. I have so many friends that have rings and it feels great that I can join them as ring winners, shout out to the Big Rippers Crew … This is huge accomplishment and I just want to say thank you to my parents who passed away. They were always supportive of me playing poker so I know they would be proud.”
