Turner Sends Le to the Rail

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Dann Turner
Dann Turner

Dinh Le opened on the button, and Dann Turner called on the big blind.

Turner checked the {j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop, and Leung continued for 13,000. Turner check-raised to 30,000, and Leung reraised all in for 165,000 more. Turner snap called.

Dinh Le: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Dann Turner: {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Le still had hope with the nut flush draw, but found himself behind Turner's already made flush. The turn and river brought no further help to Le, coming {a-Spades} and {5-Clubs}, and Leung's Main Event run is over.

A Battle of Big Stacks

Level 17 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Roman Shainiuk
Roman Shainiuk

There was a pile of chips in the middle on a board reading {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Paul Chai, who was second in chips entering Day 2, checked from under the gun. His opponent Roman Shainiuk, who was the chip leader coming into the day. Shainiuk bet 45,000 and Chai put in a check-raise to around 200,000. Shainiuk thought for a bit and folded.

With the pot, Chai is now just shy of a half-million in chips; and while Shainiuk was not the victor of this hand, he seems to be off to a great start as well, boasting a stack of over 600,000 as what is likely to still be the chip lead in the tournament as the bubble approaches.

Kowalk Ousted by Farnes

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Jeff Farnes
Jeff Farnes

Curtis Kowalk went all in from under the gun for what was totaled to be 45,000 and Jeff Farnes reraised to 100,000 from the hijack, clearing the way for the two to turn up their hands in preparation for the runout.

Curtis Kowalk: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Jeff Farnes: [8h8hs]

Kowalk's suited ace was in need of finding a pair or three more diamonds in order to stay alive. He was unable to do so as the board came {3-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{5-Spades} and he found himself as the most recent elimination of the tournament as a result.

Rodriguez Doubles Up Wong; Is Still Climbing

Level 19 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Noel Rodriguez
Noel Rodriguez

Marty Wong announced that he was all in as he put his last 32,000 forward from under the gun. Action folded around to Noel Rodriguez, who confirmed the amount, shrugging as he reluctantly dropped in a T25,000 chip to call.

Marty Wong: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Noel Rodriguez: {9-Hearts}{4-Spades}

Wong found himself steadily ahead but needing to fade Rodriguez's two live cards to stay alive. The board ran out {7-Spades}{3-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}, staying clean all along to earn Wong the double and give him a bit more fold equity along the way.

Rodriguez Traps Sickle With Aces; Nearing 1.5 Million

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Noel Rodriguez
Noel Rodriguez

Dan Stir opened to 26,000 from early position and was called by Noel Rodriguez, who was in the hijack. Chet Sickle went all in over the top from the cutoff and Stir thought for a while before folding. Rodriguez then called immediately, tabling his hand just as quickly.

Chet Sickle: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
Noel Rodriguez: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

"Snap call," said Sickle, realizing he was in some serious trouble. He called for diamonds in a non-demanding way but his request was never fulfilled as the board came {6-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{k-Hearts} to send him to the rail. He was the second elimination from Table 4 since the break after the short-stacked Marty Wong was also eliminated.

Rodriguez now finds himself with over 1.4 million in chips as he continues to climb.

Allen Kessler was also seen leaving the tournament area moments after the completion of the aforementioned hand. His seat was vacated and there were no chips in play, marking his departure from the tournament as well.

Mike Lancaster in Day 1b Action
Mike Lancaster in Day 1b Action

With less than 10 big blinds, Mike Lancaster went all in from under the gun, and Kelsey Hendricks made the call.

Mike Lancaster: {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Kelsey Hendricks: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

Board: {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

An open-ended straight draw came in on the turn, giving Lancaster hope. The {j-Spades} on the river sealed the elimination, however, and Lancaster is the latest casualty in a level of rapid eliminations.
