Peters Makes the Wrong Call

The board read 
and Tobias Peters had checked in the middle position. Tom Vogelsang bet big to put Peters all-in for his last 27,000 or so. Peters was sitting in the tank, trying to figure out what to do.
"Tell me Tom, what should I do?!" Peters said.
Vogelsang just shrugged.
The clock was called on Peters after a while and the floor gave Peters 30 seconds to make a decision. While time was ticking down, Peters made the call, in the end, to see it was the wrong one as Vogelsang held 
for the flopped top pair and turned trips. Peters had 
for just two pair.
