Roovers Gets Value

Level 9 : 400/800, 800 ante

The complete {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} board was already dealt when small blind Sandro Pitzanti checked to Mark Roovers in the cutoff. He bet 3,500 in a pot worth over 10,000. He was very quickly called by the player on the button and Pitzanti got out of the way even quicker.

Roovers opened up {a-Spades}{j-Hearts} for a full house and that was more than enough to take down the pot and add to his stack.

Registration Closed

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

Registration is closed for Day 1b and the total number of entrants is up to 276 which brings the field already up to 406 with the 130 from Day 1a. A turbo flight will commence at 10 p.m. local time so the number will go up even further.

The first edition got 273 entrants and that number dropped to 181 when Tobias Peters won it in the following year. The buy-in for the tournament dropped from €1,650 to €1,100 this year and the well over 400 players already smashed the €393,120 prize pool from two years ago.

Chen Down to Dust

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

Zhong Chen already fired more than one bullet but he is now very short. He lost with {6-Spades}{6-Hearts} against {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} after the board fell {a-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}.

Chen is down to less than five big blinds at the moment, but he still has the option of reentering if he manages to get eliminated in the tournament before the end of the level.

Registration will be closed after this level and the final option to make Day 2 will then be through the Day 1c turbo flight starting later tonight at 10 p.m. local time.

Kudzmanas Takes From Kroon

Level 8 : 300/600, 600 ante

Dave Kroon sat under the gun and Marius Kudzmanas sat in the next seat. They both put 4,000 in the middle and the blinds got out of the way when the {k-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop was dealt.

Kroon checked and Kudzmanas bet 3,100. The bet was called by the Dutchman and the {5-Spades} was added to the board on the turn.

They both checked to see the {2-Spades} complete the board on the river and Kroon opted to lead on the river with a bet of 7,500. He was quickly called and Kroon was forced to table {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and he played the board. Kudzmanas took the pot down with {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}.
