Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

The turned board showed {7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and there was around 15,000 in the pot. Shinya Shimada checked to an opponent who bet 5,000 and Shimada check-raised to 15,000.

His opponent called, the {10-Hearts} hit the felt as a turn card and Shimada pushed his stack into the middle. His opponent folded without hesitation as Shimada took down the pot.

Shimada Continues to Grow

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The flop read {k-Spades}{9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and there was about 10,000 in the pot. Shinya Shimada checked to an opponent who bet 5,000 and Shimada called.

A {j-Clubs} fell on the turn and Shimada check-called another bet, this time for 7,500. The {k-Clubs} completed the board and both players checked.

Shimada smiled as he tabled {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} for a flopped set that turned into a boat, his opponent mucked and Shimada scooped in the pot.

Karp Takes From Chalifour

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Steve Karp raised to 3,500 under the gun and the hijack called along with Dan Chalifour in the small blind and Jane Hitchcock in the big blind.

The dealer fanned a flop of {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Chalifour and Hitchcock checked. Karp bet 6,600 and the hijack folded. Chalifour check-raised to 16,600 and Hitchcock let it go but Karp quickly added the remainder to call.

The turn was the {q-Clubs} and Chalifour threw in a bet of 23,000 that Karp snap-called. The {k-Clubs} completed the board and both players checked. Chalifour showed {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} for a pair of kings but that wasn't good enough as Karp revealed {8-Clubs}{8-Spades} to win the pot with his set of eights.
