Wheeler's Quads Don't Get Value

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The flop was reading {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}{k-Clubs} when the small blind checked along with the big blind and Nate Wheeler in middle position.

The turn came the {j-Spades} and the blinds checked again. Wheeler threw in a bet of 2,500 and both of his opponents gave up their hands. Wheeler showed {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for quad kings before raking in the pot.

Another One for Arriola

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Jorge Arriola opened to 3,500 from the cutoff, and got one call from the small blind.

The small blind check-called a 3,000 bet from Arriola on the {5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} flop, and a 7,500 bet on the {9-Hearts} turn.

Both players checked the {a-Clubs} river, and Arriola's {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} was the winner, besting the small blind's {q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

The player in the hijack raised and the small blind called along with Jim Carroll in the big blind.

A flop reading {q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} was dealt and the small blind checked. Carroll bet 3,000 and the hijack folded but the small blind check-called.

The turn fell the {7-Diamonds} and was checked through to the {6-Hearts} river. The small blind fired 4,500 and Carrol raised to 14,500. His opponent hit the tank for a couple of minutes, then called. Carroll turned over {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for trip jacks and his opponent sent his hand to the muck.

"Did you really just look at one card?" asked a player at the table.

"I saw one. I saw the king," answered Carroll.

In the end, it was Italy’s Antonello Perrini, who was in the US for vacation, defeating David Brookshire in heads-up play to win the title for $11,891 and his first gold ring.

“I don’t know how I did it, but I am very happy,” said the 31-year-old Perrini.

Wheeler Keeps Building

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Nate Wheeler raised to 2,000 from the cutoff and the button three-bet to 5,100. The small blind called and Wheeler stuck around with a call as well.
