WSOP Bracelet Winner Cord Garcia Captures Third WSOP Circuit Gold Ring
The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at Florida’s Seminole Coconut Creek to live report action from both the $2,200 High Roller and $1,700 Main Event, but is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.
In Event #8: $600 NLH Turbo, 84 runners created a $43,260 prize pool that was paid out to the top 13 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Tomas Teran Paredes (10th - $961), Hagai Stein (11th - $961), Dragan Lunic (12th - $961), and Ryan Van Sanford (13th - $872).
In the end, WSOP bracelet winner “Colossus” Cord Garcia denied Event #4 champ Scott Robert his second ring of the stop. For the victory, Garcia took home $13,098 and his third career gold ring.
“I doubled somebody up the first hand of the final table so I went back into top four,” said Garcia, who began the final table as chip leader. “But then a couple of shorties busted and I got lucky once. It went pretty smooth.”
