Day 1a of Event 10: $1,700 Main Event of the 2019 WSOP Circuit Seminole Casino Coconut Creek is in the books after a long day of action.

Some 296 players took their aim at the long road to a coveted WSOP Circuit Ring and when the chips stopped flying, just 57 players remained. Leading those remaining players was Mihaly Lukacs who bagged a whopping 404,000, which is a full 100,000 more than the next closest player. The Hungarian player was spotted toward the end of play as he took a large pot off of previous big stack Scott Efron and he would ride that wave to the end of play.

Some distance behind in second place was Tyler Phillips who ended play with 292,000. James Kirvin bagged 279,000, which was good enough for third place. Steven Sarmiento (275,000) and Thomas Alcorn (265,000) rounded out the top five chip counts.

Other notable players to advance to Day 2 include; Timothy Miles (156,500), who had a roller coaster toward the end of the day but finished with a healthy stack, Jake Schwartz (151,000) and Ian O’Hara (143,500).

Many players who attempted to make Day 2 failed in their attempt and will have to try again on Day 1b if they wish to advance, including Irene Carey, Loni Harwood, Allen Kessler and local South Florida rapper Kevin Pouya.

The players who survived Day 1a shall join those who survive Day 1b, which begins at 11 a.m. local time on Saturday September 28 to converge for Day 2 on Sunday.

Just like Day 1a, PokerNews will keep you abreast of all of the Day 1b action

Moses Carves Into Miles

Timothy Miles did not have his large stack for long as he was seen giving a decent portion of his stack over to his immediate right to David Moses.

Moses's {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} was showing as the winning hand on a board that had run out {10-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds} to best the off suit {a-}{9-} of Miles in a pre-flop all in.

According to Moses he raised to 4,000, Miles made it 16,000 and then Moses came over the top with an all in rip which Miles called.

The PokerNews Live Reporting Team is at Florida’s Seminole Coconut Creek to live report action from both the $2,200 High Roller and $1,700 Main Event, but is just one of a dozen gold ring events at the stop. As such, we thought we’d profile some of the preliminary tournaments and those who struck it big.

In Event #8: $600 NLH Turbo, 84 runners created a $43,260 prize pool that was paid out to the top 13 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Tomas Teran Paredes (10th - $961), Hagai Stein (11th - $961), Dragan Lunic (12th - $961), and Ryan Van Sanford (13th - $872).

In the end, WSOP bracelet winner “Colossus” Cord Garcia denied Event #4 champ Scott Robert his second ring of the stop. For the victory, Garcia took home $13,098 and his third career gold ring.

“I doubled somebody up the first hand of the final table so I went back into top four,” said Garcia, who began the final table as chip leader. “But then a couple of shorties busted and I got lucky once. It went pretty smooth.”
