Gates Runs Into a Much Bigger Flush

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

A completed board of {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} was spread across the table and Garry Gates was faced with a bet of 2,000. Gates raised to 8,000 and Andrew Hills just called in position. The initial better folded and it was time for showdown.

"Do you have a flush?" Gates asked.

Hills turned over {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for an ace-high flush.

"You just called with the nut flush?" Gates questioned. But it was soon pointed out that there was a straight flush possibility. Gates flashed {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a baby flush and Hills was awarded the pot.
