Ditrapani Sinks Further

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Nic Ditrapani
Nic Ditrapani

Nic Ditrapani bet 10,000 on a {2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop and Mark Koeln check-raised to 30,000 in the big blind. Ditrapani called and then called 40,000 on the {3-Diamonds} turn. On the {4-Spades} river, he faced a barrel worth 60,000.

"You got aces?" Koeln asked as Ditrapani tanked.

"Of course I have aces," Ditrapani said.

Finally, he called, but aces or not, he couldn't beat {9-Hearts}{2-Spades}.

Hoffman Gets it Back

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Dean Hoffman bet 75,000 from the button with {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Spades} on the felt. The bet was just over half the pot, and Nic Ditrapani tanked then called from under the gun. He shook his head when Hoffman showed {a-}{4-} for trips.

At another table, Tim Vance went bust to force a redraw.

Raghavan Catches Hoffman

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Dean Hoffman made a bet of 50,000, just under the pot, from the small blind on {6-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Ravi Raghavan was in the tank on his right, with the bet representing most of his remaining chips. Raghavan finally settled on a call.

Hoffman shook his head and tossed in {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Raghavan took it with {a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}.

Welko Welcomes a Dub

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Craig Welko shoved for 91,000 out of the big blind and an under-the-gun opener called with {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Welko had the {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} and easily faded a small sweat as the board ran {7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}.

Busted and Paid

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Chan Runs into Blades

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Kevin Chan shoved for 55,000 under the gun and was called by Dean Hoffman on the button.

Chan: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Hoffman: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

The {j-Clubs}{2-Spades}{a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} board did nothing for Chan, who headed for payouts.

Hawkins Won't Get No. 15

Level 17 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Maurice Hawkins
Maurice Hawkins

Maurice Hawkins just got up and headed to payouts. As the board and cards were swept and the pot pushed, we inquired as to the manner of his exit. Apparently, he got it in for about 110,000 preflop with {j-}{j-} only to run into {k-}{k-}. A dead eight-high board meant he won't earn a record-extending 15th WSOPC ring here in the Ameristar St. Charles Main Event.

Rajappa Triples Up

Level 17 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Jerod Smith raised preflop and got action in two spots. On the {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop, he bet 12,000 and Tej Rajappa shoved for 79,000 on his left. Zack Mullennix also moved in from the button. Smith only had 8,000 more than Rajappa, and he opted to call it off.

Smith: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Rajappa: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Mullennix: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

Mullennix picked up more outs to a double knockout on the {7-Hearts} turn but the river was a {2-Diamonds}. Smith busted moments later.

Moreno Doubles on Lucky River

Level 17 : 2,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

With about 170,000 in the middle, Matthew Moreno moved all in from the small blind for 74,000. His opponent on the button called with {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}, good for top pair on the {k-Spades}{2-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Clubs} board. However, Moreno had gotten there with {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and doubled up.
