Day 2 of the $2,200 High Roller is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino right here in Tampa.

Some 49 players survived Day 1 and will continue drive for the ring today on Day 2. Registration is still open until the start of play, so there may be a few more entries to join the 49 remaining.

The start of day chip leader will be David Russell who holds a large stack of 330,000. With action starting on level 13 with blinds at 1,000/2,000 and with a 2,000 big blind ante, Russell’s stack is good for a whopping 165 big blinds.

The only other players to have north of 100 big blinds are Miguel Hernandez with 275,000 (137.5 bbs) and Nelson Beck (129 bbs). Just shy of of that mark is two-time ring circuit winner Brad Albrinck who holds 197,000 in chips.

Michael Wang (from Day 1)

Michael Wang found himself in a world of trouble holding {9-}{9-} in a preflop all in up against the {a-}{a-} of David Russell.

The flop came {8-}{5-}{j-}, the turn came {7-} to open up a straight draw and the {10-Spades} on the river completed the straight to give Wang to huge double up and take a chunk away from Russell.

Apter Befuddles Zarco

Level 15 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Brett Apter
Brett Apter

The board read {k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Javier Zarco was deep in thought with a big decision on his hands as his river bet of 24,500 had been shoved on by Brett Apter.

Zarco thought for about 30 more seconds before folding and showing the {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for the second nut flush.

He prompted Apter to show and Apter did show one card, the {a-Hearts} which only made Zarco all the more curious as he continued to wonder as the next hand was dealt.
