Josh Reichard after winning Ring #12

12-time WSOP Circuit Ring winner Josh Reichard, who just finished in 15th place in Event #11: $1,125 No Limit Hold'em, checked a {4-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} board from under-the-gun, and Christian Kennedy bet 3,000 into a pot of 11,000 from middle position. The cutoff called, and Reichard check-raised to 9,200. Kennedy folded, and the cutoff tanked for a minute.

"I'm gonna let you have it," the cutoff told Reichard, before tossing his cards to the muck.

Lena Zhao Wins Event #2 for First Ring

Lena Zhao

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the High Roller and Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Horseshoe Hammond.

In Event #2: $250 NLH Double Stack, 541 runners created a $108,200 prize pool that was paid out to the top 82 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the official final table were Eric Mardsen (10th- $1,584), Isidro Sandoval (12th - $1,584), Dimitre Dimitrov (17th - $1,067), Guillermo Vargas (19th - $893), Robert Richmond (22nd - $759) and Josh Reichard (40th - $417).

In the end, it was Illinois native Lena Zhao who collected every chip in play to win her first gold ring along with a $21,031 payday.

This two-day tournament was a true grind, with play continuing for a little over 10 hours and Zhao didn't let the length wear her down.

Zhao came into the final day with the chip lead but went to the final table as one of the shortest stacks with only 820,00, but after a long grind at the final table couple, she got the hands she had been waiting for to seal the deal.

“I work a full-time job so I don’t get to play as much as I want to,” Zhao continued, “I only get to play the events that come through here so it feels so good to win my first ring.”

Zhao has a pretty rough work schedule but intends to continue the Circuit stop at Hammond and earn some points towards the 2020 Global Casino Championship.

Christian Kennedy
Christian Kennedy

The under-the-gun player opened to 600, Christian Kennedy three-bet to 1,400 on the direct left, Kevin Stroud cold called from middle position, and the under-the-gun player called.

Action checked to Kennedy, who bet 2,200 on the {j-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{9-Spades} flop. Both opponents called.

Both the under-the-gun player and Kennedy checked the {7-Diamonds} turn, Stroud bet 3,000, and both opponents called.

Action checked to Stroud on the {3-Clubs} river, Stroud bet 3,000, and only Kennedy called. Stroud tabled {9-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for two pair, but it was Kennedy's {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}, for a set of jacks, that was the winner.

Sudheer Some Turns First Final Table Appearance Into Gold

Sudheer Some
Sudheer Some

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the High Roller and Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Horseshoe Hammond.

In Event #1: $400 NLH, five starting flights saw 2,169 runners create a $715,770 prize pool that was paid out to the top 290 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the official final table were Andy Rogowski (10th- $8,544), David Gonia (14th - $6,929), Ken Donarski (18th - $5,674), Matt Porter (26th - $3,307), Greg Baird (28th - $3,386) and Matthew Koch (39th - $1,857).

In the end, it was Illinois native Sudheer Some who collected every chip in play to win his first gold ring along with a $103,923 payday.

Some's road to victory was a long and arguably grueling one but the 40-year-old found a way to capture his first ring in his first-ever final table appearance.

“I’m really lost for words,” stated Some. “This was my first final table I have made and am just really excited to win my first ring.”

The $103,923 victory marks the largest of Some’s career and he adds a shiny new piece of hardware to go along with it.

WSOP Circuit Potawatomi Main Event Champ Shing Sniffs Out a Bluff

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante
Philip Shing
Philip Shing

A player limped in from the cutoff, as did Philip Shing, who triumphed over a 524-player field earlier this month at the WSOP Circuit Potawatomi $1,700 Main Event for $151,284, on the button. The small blind raised to 500, and both the cutoff and Shing called.

Action checked down to the river of a {2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{q-Hearts} board, and the small blind checked again. The cutoff bet 1,700, Shing called and the small blind folded. The cutoff flung his {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} up on the felt, and Shing tabled {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for the winner.

Rogowski Scores the Knockout

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante
Andy Rogowski
Andy Rogowski

Facing a hijack open to 600 and and small blind call, Andy Rogowski three-bet to 2,800 from the big blind. Both opponents called.

Rogoswki continued for 2,500 on the {2-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, the hijack min-raised to 5,000, and the small blind folded.

Rogowski three-bet to 12,500, the hijack shoved, and Rogowski called.

Hijack: {q-Spades}{9-Spades}
Andy Rogowski: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}

The turn {6-Spades} and {5-Diamonds} preserved the win for Rogowski, as his pocket aces held against the opponent's pair of nines. Rogowski had his opponent slightly covered, and he now sits at 60,000, while his opponent's first Day 1a bullet has expired.
