PokerNews is in town to live report the $1,700 Main Event here at the World Series of Poker Circuit at Horseshoe Tunica, but that is just one of the gold ring events that will have played out by the end of the series.

Event #5: $400 NLH 6-Handed attracted 238 entries and offered up a $78,540 prize pool that was reserved for the top 36 players. Among those to cash were Brett Apter (6th - $2,868), Gary Lambert (10th - $1,659), Michael Sanders (15th - $1,062), Kip Jones (25th - $665), and Heather Alcorn (36th - $603).

Coming out on top was Bryan Salerno, who claimed the title for $18,438 and his first gold ring. It was redemption as he had finished in second place in the same tournament the year before.

“I feel great. Last year I came second in this event, it was a brutal beat, and I haven’t gotten to play very much, so coming back this year and winning it feels pretty good,” Salerno said after his victory.

Stanfill and Jones Chop One Up

Level 10 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

After a limp from early position, Jesse Jones made it 3,500 from the hijack. Jody Stanfill called from the cutoff as did the limper. The three players headed to a flop of {9-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} and the action checked to Stanfill who bet 8,000. Only Jones called to see the {3-Diamonds} on the turn.

Both players tapped the table and the {j-Clubs} completed the board. Jones led out for 8,500 this time and Stanfill instantly called. Jones showed {j-Spades}{9-Spades} for two pair and Stanfill turned over {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the same hand.

Dream Flop for White, Avoids Disaster

Level 9 : 400/800, 800 ante

There was a raise to 2,000 from under the gun and Marshall White just called in the hijack. Jason Rogers re-raised to 7,000 on the button and only White called. The flop came {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and White check-called a bet of 7,000 from Rogers.

The {10-Clubs} landed on the turn and White checked again. Rogers tossed in another bet of 7,000 and White eyed up his opponent's stack before shoving all in. Rogers sighed but decided to call of his stack of around 30,000.

White flipped over {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for a full house but Rogers had a few outs with {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}. "Ace of clubs," he pleaded for. But it was the {8-Spades} on the river and White's full house sent Rogers to the rail.
