Matakis Rips It In

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
Ian Matakis
Ian Matakis

Ian Matakis checked a {6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} flop from the small blind, and Voytek Glab bet 1,200 into a pot of 3,200 from under the gun. Ken Komberec raised to 4,000 from middle position, and Matakis three-bet shoved for 13,900.

Glab tanked for a bit before folding, and Komberec spent a short stint in the tank himself before pushing his cards to the muck, as well.

Defending Champ Bai Building Early

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

The full {5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} board was already on the felt when Jeremy Pekarek made a small bet of 2,100 into a pot of 12,000 from the small blind. Richard Bai, who won September's Main Event here with the WSOP Circuit, quickly raised to 13,000, enough to put Pekarek in for his last 11,000.

"Ace-eight of spades?" Pekarek asked Bai before flashing his {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} up and folding. Bai just smirked and mucked.

Desai's River Bet Succeeds

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Three players invested 1,700 a piece to see a {9-Spades}{7-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop together. Action checked through to the {q-Diamonds} turn, where both the small blind and cutoff checked over to Sanket Desai on the button. Desai bet 3,200, and both the small blind and cutoff called.

The {9-Diamonds} fell on the river, and action checked to Desai again. Desai bet 7,500, and both of his opponents folded.

Simon Sends One Packing

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

A player raised to 300 from the cutoff, and Jorden Helstern called on the button. John Simon three-bet to 1,500 from the small blind, and only the cutoff called.

Simon placed 20,000 in the pot after the {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{2-Diamonds} flop fell, putting the cutoff in for his last 2,900. The cutoff obliged with a quick call.

Opponent: {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
John Simon: {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The cutoff's lead was short-lived, as the {10-Clubs} fell on the turn, giving Simon Broadway and leaving the cutoff drawing dead to a chop. The {5-Spades} river bricked off, and the cutoff told Simon, "Good game," before making his exit.

Altman Exerts Maximum Pressure

Level 2 : 100/100, 100 ante

A substantial pot of 24,000 was already built up with a {7-Clubs}{k-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} board on the felt, and the hijack checked over to Brian Altman on the button. Altman jammed for 20,000, putting the hijack to the test.

The hijack tanked for a minute, taking stock of his similarly sized stack, before ultimately settling on a fold.
