Welcome to Day 1a of the 2022 WSOP International Circuit Rozvadov €1,700 Main Event

King's Resort Feature Table
King's Resort Feature Table

Europe's biggest poker arena is once more host of the WSOP International Circuit and the tail end of the series contains the standout event of the schedule. The €1,700 WSOP Circuit Main Event comes with a guaranteed prize pool of €1,000,000 and successfully surpassed the seven-figure goal in the previous editions. Within eight months, it is the third time the series is taking place at the King's Resort in Rozvadov, which has become the home of major live poker festivals for enthusiasts of the card game from near and afar.

In September 2021, the series kicked off a return for live poker on a major scale on European soil and the flagship tournament attracted a field of 912 entries. The duel between Andrea Ricci and Simone Lombardo saw both Italians share the biggest slice of the €1,342,920 prize pool with Ricci taking home the top prize of €236,489 and the coveted gold ring. Late in January 2022, Turkey's Feyzullah Karaarslan came out on top of a 808-entry strong field after defeating King's regular Aleksandar Tomovic in heads-up.

Tomovic and Ricci are certainly be expected to be back in action at one of their preferred poker locations. Two starting days are available in the €1,700 Main Event on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16, both of which feature nine levels of 60 minutes each. Two re-entries are available for each day and the late registration period closes at the start of level 11, two levels into Day 2 on Sunday, April 17. All players receive 50,000 in chips and last minute additions in level 12 would enter with 20 big blinds.

The tournament is slated to play down to a winner on April 19 and the top finishers will also receive an entry to the 2022 WSOP Europe €10,350 Main Event on top of their cash prizes as part of a year-long promotion at King's Resort as well. All ring event winners of the ongoing stop will furthermore qualify for the WSOP Tournament of Champions at the end of the 2022 WSOP in Las Vegas, which offers a guaranteed prize pool of $1,000,000.

Stay tuned right here on PokerNews to find out who will earn the WSOP Circuit Main Event ring in the days to come. The live reporting team will be on the floor from start to finish, providing as many key hands as possible en route to crowning a champion.

With already 21,000 in the middle to the {9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades}{k-Diamonds} turn, a bet worth 15,000 was in front of Vadym Sienichkin in the small blind and that sent Andrea Ricci into the tank. The Italian eventually called on the button and Sienichkin then tanked the {j-Clubs} on the river before he opted to check.

Ricci bet 4,000 and Sienichkin paid that off within a few seconds to muck his cards once he was shown the {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} for the top pair and top kicker.

With Andrea Ricci, the penultimate winner of the WSOP Circuit Main Event has already been part of the action since the start of Day 1a. He is now joined by Feyzullah Karaarslan, who won the last edition in late January 2022.

Karaarslan was involved in a pot with Benyamin Glot, who check-called a bet worth 1,500 by Karaarslan on the {8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs} turn. The {5-Diamonds} fell on the river and Glot checked once more. Karaarslan made it 4,000 to go and his opponent sent the cards into the muck.

The four players headed to the {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop on which they checked to Ljecaj, who made it 2,000 to go. Tarlev called and Gulas then jammed for 16,300 to force out Neuville. Ljecaj called, Tarlev went over the top and was quickly called by Ljecaj as the biggest stack.

Josef Gulas: {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Orhan Ljecaj: {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}
Petru Tarlev: {k-Spades}{j-Spades}

The {2-Spades} turn changed nothing but Gulas got there thanks to the {2-Diamonds} river for the triple up while Tarlev doubled through Ljecaj for 12,800.

Emil Bise
Emil Bise

Four ways to the {8-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop, the action checked to Emil Bise on the button and he bet 10,000. Only Stephanie Agostinetti called out of the big blind while Andro Scarpa from under the gun and Janja in the cutoff folded.

The {7-Spades} turn was checked and Agostinetti then bet the {8-Diamonds} river for 25,000. Bise mulled it over for a few seconds and called to get shown the {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} by Agostinetti, briefly flashing his {k-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for trips eights. After the hand was over, Bise banged his hand on the table and the remaining 14,000 chips vanished shortly after.

Nagygyorgy Busts Melchers With a "Nice Call"

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante
Tibor Nagygyörgy
Tibor Nagygyörgy

Just before the blinds went up, a larger pot developed between Dorian Melchers on the button and Tibor Nagygyörgy in the cutoff. The board showed {a-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts} and Nagygyörgy bet 15,000 for his table neighbour to shove for 67,800 in total.

Nagygyörgy was sent into the tank and the clock was called on him. With five seconds remaining, the Hungarian called and Melchers rolled over the {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for a pair of queens only. Nagygyörgy had that beat with the {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and won the big pot, which Silviu Baltateanu acknowledged with a "nice call".

Cieslik Eliminated With Premium Pair

Level 6 : 400/800, 800 ante
Roman Cieslik
Roman Cieslik

Around 28,000 were in the middle to the {10-Spades}{6-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Clubs} turn and Roman Cieslik checked out of the small blind. Symeon Alexandridis pushed in the hijack with the slightly superior stack and that sent Cieslik into the tank. He opted to call it off and once Alexandridis rolled over the {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for trips tens, Cieslik sighed "every single fuckin time" before exposing his {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}.

No miracle happened on the {8-Hearts} river and both stacks were counted. Alexandridis had 44,900 at his disposal and that covered the 41,000 of Cieslik.

Andrea Ricci

Marek Sulc raised to 2,100 and Van Son Le then three-bet to 6,600 on the button. Andrea Ricci in the big blind four-bet to 16,000 and received two calls, which led to the {10-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop. It got checked through to Le, who bet 13,000 and earned calls from Ricci and Sulc.

Ricci then bet the {7-Clubs} turn for 20,000, forcing a very reluctant fold from Sulc and resulting in the call by Le. Following the {9-Diamonds} river, Ricci bet another 20,000 and Le paid it off to get shown the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for a flopped full house.

Sulc mentioned in table chat he had folded pocket jacks while Le claimed to have had pocket kings.
