Verner Chips Up; Grospellier Unlucky Not to Double Up

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Jan Verner bet 3500 and was called by Fulvio Sansanelli and Bartosz Pajak. The flop came {8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades} where Verner made a continuation bet of 3,000 which was enough for Pajak to fold however Sansanelli called.

Both players checked the {10-Clubs} on the turn, the {k-Clubs} on the river prompted Verner to bet 10,000 which was called by Sansanelli. Verner revealed {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} which was enough to win the pot.

On the very next hand, Bertrand Grospellier pushed all in for 30,000. It was called by Robert Galant in the big blind

Bertrand Grospellier: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Robert Galant: {q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

To Grospellier's dismay, the board was monotone as {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Spades} were placed on the felt for a chopped pot.

Late Casualties on Day 1b

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Ozlu Gets Creative With Bottom Pair

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

With some 25,000 in the middle to the {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} turn, Andreas Fischer bet 7,500 and Tayfun Ozlu raised to 15,000 for his opponent to call. Fischer was undeterred and bet the {8-Hearts} river for another 21,500. Ozlu tank-called with the {3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for the bottom pair, which was good as Fischer was caught bluffing with the {k-Spades}{q-Clubs} for king-queen high.

Soceanu Doubles Through Lunario

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The {j-}{10-} of Daniele Lunario just hit the muck as he then paid off fellow countryman Giorgio Soceanu, who had prevailed with {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. It was not without sweat on the {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts} board as Soceanu fell behind on the turn only to get there with the nut flush. He doubled for 21,600 to narrowly pull ahead of Lunario.

Di Nicola Felted by Di Giacomo

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Ermanno Di Nicola
Ermanno Di Nicola

Claudio Di Giacomo made it 3,500 to go and Ermanno Di Nicola then jammed for 34,400 from one seat over. Nedeljko Todorovic went into the tank from one seat over and asked for an exact count but let go. Di Giacomo also gave it plenty of consideration but came along with the covering stack.

Ermanno Di Nicola: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Claudio Di Giacomo: {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

On a board of {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, one seven was not enough to keep PLO specialist Di Nicola in contention.

Trauer Powering On; Llapi Hits The Rail

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

With 36,000 in the pot on a board of {j-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs} Pierre Trauer fired a bet of 25,000. Matthias Nachtigal took plenty of time before folding.

The very next hand Mario Llapi moved all-in preflop and was called by Kirill Denisenko.

Mario Llapi: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Kirill Denisenko: {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

The flop and turn were safe for Llapi, but an {a-Spades} on the river sealed Llapi's fate and Denisenko scooped the pot.

Late Night Counts

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Aleksandar Tomovic re-entered after he recalled losing a flip with ace-king against the pocket queens of Do Tran.

Naegelen Collects On the Flop

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Kevin Naegelen raised to 3,200 from under the gun and received no fewer than three callers. Four ways to the {k-Spades}{8-Spades}{6-Clubs} flop, Sammy Truong checked in the big blind and Naegelen continued for 3,800. Three folds later, the pot was awarded to Naegelen who continued his rise towards the end of the day.

The same table also features Albert Hoekendijk, who jumped back in and more than doubled since taking the seat again.
