Nagygyörgy Back on Track With a Double

Level 16 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Tibor Nagygyörgy started the day as one of the biggest stacks but had since slipped into the middle of the pack. However, he just scored a double in a battle button versus big blind when he clashed with Nicolas Maillaud.

They got it in after the {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop with Nagygyörgy holding the {7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. Maillaud had the {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and remained ahead on the {3-Clubs} turn but the {5-Spades} on the river improved Nagygyörgy to a straight as he doubled for 196,000.

Crha and Kabrhel With Big Stacks

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Patricke Zehnder was eliminated a few minutes ago when he ran into the {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} of Rene Crha, who made the top set on the {10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Spades}{a-Hearts} board.

Soon after, it was Martin Kabrhel who kept firing from under the gun against Milan Joksic in the hijack. Kabrhel bet the {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{q-Spades} turn for 90,000 and the {6-Spades} river for 85,000. Joksic called both times and Kabrhel revealed the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} for a set of sevens to chip up further.

Melchers Knocked out by Tantillo

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Dorian Melchers
Dorian Melchers

A big pot developed between Dorian Melchers and Fausto Tantillo with the latter raking in all the chips eventually. It only got in after the {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{9-Spades} river when Tantillo's {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} made a set. The cards of Melchers were in the muck already as he pushed over his stack towards the dealer and the table chat indicated ace-queen for the Frenchman.

Chen Back With Two Bangs

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

"Yes, yes, I win", Li Chen loudly celebrated as he had just doubled for 165,000 against Arthur Schafer. On a board of {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{j-Spades}, the {a-Diamonds}{k-Spades} of Chen were best when they piled it in preflop once more.

Soon after, Andreas Puhl was at risk for 90,500 with the {j-Hearts}{j-Spades} and Chen looked him up holding the {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. The inferior pair got there on the {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} board and Puhl snapped a picture of the bad beat before heading to the rail.

Labarile From Big Stack to Busto

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Vito Labarile had been a bigger stack for the last few levels but that all changed in a big clash with Marek Sulc. It was the most classic of pocket pair duels when Sulc had the best of it with {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}. Labarile's {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} were trailing as they got it in preflop and the {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} board awarded the double to Sulc for 440,000.

Labarile had some 120,000 behind and busted shortly after.

Schafer Takes Big Pot from Di Giacomo

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

On a board of {k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} Arthur Schafer bet 100,000. Claudio Di Giacomo was deep into the tank and found a call. Schafer rolled over {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} which was enough for Di Giacomo to throw his cards into the muck.

On a neighboring table a verbal all-in could be heard from the mouth of Martin Paap. There was contemplation from a number of players at the table including big stack Lukas Zaskodny, but it wasn't to be and Paap grabbed the dead money in the pot.

Double-up for Galant

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Robert Galant
Robert Galant

Josef Gulas and Robert Galant got their chips in the middle preflop.

Josef Gulas: {a-}{q-}
Robert Galant: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} which gave Galant the nut flush and a double-up, but both players are in a sticky situation as they both have less than 20 big blinds heading towards the bubble.

Lach Has No Reason to Laugh Anymore

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Luc Ta banged his hands on the table after he scored a big pot by eliminating Kai Uwe Lach. The board and his cards were still tabled as he had flopped a straight with the {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} on a {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs} board.

According to Symeon Alexandridis, Lach got it in on the flop with pocket aces to draw very slim before hitting the rail.
