The €1,500 World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event organized by Texapoker at Casino Malta kicked off this Wednesday with the first of four flights.
A total of 107 entries were recorded on Day 1a, already bringing the prize pool to €135,000. However, only 17 players made it through to the end of the night, led by Mikel Calo, who finished with a massive stack of 940,000 after bursting the bubble.
Calo ended the day with almost 60 big blinds more than second-in-chips Thomas Rayssiguier (534,000), followed by Matthew Micallef (480,000), Carlo van Ravenswoud (443,000) and Gabriele Paone (430,000).

Gabriele Re (358,000), Evangelos Charalampous (276,000), Birger Larsen (237,000), Georgios Tsouloftas (221,000), Filip Barczak (101,000) and Andrea Dal Bo (82,000) were among the other players to qualify for Day 2.
While they will enjoy the next two days off, others will try to join them via Day 1b, which starts this Thursday, October 1, at 12:30 p.m. Players will start with blinds of 100/200 and a 200 big blind ante, along with a 50,000 starting stack, and play 40-minute levels until 15% of the field remains. Unlimited entries are allowed during the first 12 levels of play, which are scheduled to end at approximately 10:30 p.m.
