Cyndy Violette Loses Tough Hand

Cyndy Violette had a board of 3-K-K-8, looking at an opponent's 2-2-9-4. The opponent re-raised her bet on seventh street and she thought a long time, wondering if he had a third deuce. She called, as there was too much money in the pot. No third deuce, but A-A underneath for two pair beat her kings up, and she's down to 4700.

Huck Seed Hanging Tough

1996 WSOP main event champion Huckleberry Seed was down to 1,400. He increased his stack to 4,400 after he picked up a pot. By sixth street he had a pair of tens to double up against an opponent who held a pair of threes.

We're Back

We're now playing Stud-8, and there are 90 players remaining. Forty places pay, and we should hit that magic number sometime after the dinner break in an hour.

David Chiu Wins with Aces

David Chiu wins a pot early with A-A showing on fourth street. He's now at 23,000. Chiu is remembered as the first Tournament of Champions winner in 1999, back when it was held at the Orleans. He has four bracelets in 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2005. As Cyndy Violette plays both cash games and tournaments, so does Chiu. He can be seen in the top money games in the country and has consistently won in both arenas over time.

Keep an Eye on the Violette

Cyndy Violette is regarded as one of the best female poker players in the world. When you compare talent for winning in both high-stakes cash games and tournaments, there may be only two other women on that list, Jennifer Harman and Annie Duke. Violette has a bracelet in 2004 for Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo. She's at 25,000.
