Eric Lynch Eliminates Michael Martin

Facing a pot-sized raise, Eric "Rizen" Lynch grinned at Michael Martin across the table and asked, "Is there a cash game going on?" Martin grinned back and Lynch said, "OK, I'll gamble." He raised the pot back, Martin called, and they flipped their cards.

Lynch held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{7-Hearts}; Martin had {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}. "I like my hand," Martin said, until the flop came {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}. The {A-Hearts} on the turn and the {K-Hearts} on the river didn't save Martin, and he was eliminated in 36th place.

Johnny Chan In Contention

Phil Hellmuth won his 11th bracelet on Monday, and now Johnny Chan is making a deep run in today's event as he also goes for number 11. He just doubled up against John McLaughlin when he flopped a set and turned a full house to push his stack up to 90,000. McLaughlin's decimated stack now sits at 10K.

Clash of the Titans

This is one of those hands you circle in red so you don't forget it. Our two chip leaders, Scott Clements and Justin Scott, saw a flop of {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Justin Scott led out for 23,000 and Clements raised enough to set Justin all-in. Justin called and showed {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{4-Clubs} for the nut flush draw, while Clements had {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}{A-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the set of Nines. The {J-Diamonds} on the turn gave Justin the nut flush . . . and then the {J-Clubs} spiked on the river to give Clements the boat and the biggest pot of the tournament. He's now the big chip leader with 255,000, while Justin Scott goes out in 31st place.
