Robert Williamson III joined his "tent table" carrying a glass of wine and wearing a beautiful sport coat. He greeted his table-mates with a very friendly "Hello one and all... let's have some fun!"
Only two hands later, the sport coat came off, though he still looks dapper as ever in his purple and black silk shirt.
It's early in the day yet but Annie Duke has run her stack up over 7K, due in large part to the hand she just won. With the board reading Annie bet 750 and was raised to 1500. She moved all-in for an additional 1500 and was called. Duke held K-J, the other player had A-K, and when the hit on the river Duke scooped a big pot.
Plenty of alternates are milling around in the hallways including Allen Cunningham, Melissa Hayden, and Jeff Madsen. The two-time WSOP bracelet winner Madsen was spotted snapping photos during the last hour to kill some time.
The first hundred alternates were seated by 1:40pm in the Rio Poker Room. The good news is that the players are playing, the bad news is that the Rio Poker Room is a good hike from the alternate staging area.
There are currently no "name" players in that room.
