Humberto Eliminated

A player in middle position made it 1,200 to go before the flop and Humberto Brenes reraised with force, pounding a stack of chips on the table before neatly cutting 1,800 of them from the bottom; his opponent just called.

The flop came {Q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and both players checked. The turn brought the {7-Spades} and the middle position player bet 1,200; Humberto made the call and was all-in. These were the players' hands:

Humberto: {A-Spades}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

Humberto would need a 2, 4, 5, or 8 to split the pot, but the river paired the Queen sending Brenes to the rail.

"Son of a Gun . . . "

Humberto Brenes got himself involved in a hand against both blinds, holding {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

The board filled out {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{J-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, giving Humberto trip Jacks with an Ace kicker. The small blind made a bet on the river and both Humberto and the big blind called.

At the showdown, the small blind flipped over {J-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for Jacks full of 4's, which was good enough to scoop the pot. After the hand was over, Humberto kept repeating, "Son of a gun . . . son of a gun."

Todd Brunson Turns a Royal

Rarely in Omaha 8-or-better will you hold the stone cold nuts by the turn and have your opponents drawing absolutely dead; Todd Brunson knows the feeling.

Holding {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, with the board showing {6-Spades}{10-Clubs}{J-Clubs}, the {K-Clubs} fell on the turn giving Brunson the early checkmark in the hand. Lucky for him, his opponent held a set of 6's and played for the full house to no avail.

Brunson eliminated his opponent on the hand and upped his total chip count to approximately 17,000.

Ferguson Victim of Counterfeit

Chris "Jesus" Ferguson
Chris "Jesus" Ferguson
Board: {Q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Spades} {3-Diamonds}

Having made the nut low on the turn with a wheel, all Chris Ferguson could do was watch as he had committed the last of his chips to the pot.

The river brought a scary looking {A-Hearts}, which would turn out to be a bad card for Chris. His opponent flipped over {2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, which gave him the the nut-nut hand. Ferguson, who owned the nut low before the river, would have to settle for a quarter of the pot (half the low) showing {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}.

After the hand, Ferguson was left with just 1,700 chips.
