Scotty Nguyen Says He Had Queens Beat, Baby

Late in the last level, a player in middle position raises to 9,000, Scotty Nguyen calls from the small blind, and the big blind calls. The flop comes {9-Diamonds}

, Nguyen bets 9,000, the big blind raises to 29,000, the middle-position player folds, and Nguyen calls. The turn card is the {K-Spades}

, and Nguyen says, "All in." He smoothly moves his chips out in front of him and begins carefully counting them down -- it's 45,100. The big blind goes into the tank for several minutes.

It doesn't take long for ESPN and the rest of the media to notice the action, and they swarm the table, putting additional pressure on the player facing a decision. Scotty Nguyen says (to no one in particular), "You never know, baby, you never know. My money's all in there."

Shortly after that, the big blind folds, showing {Q-Diamonds}

. Nguyen says, "You know I have that beat, baby." But Nguyen mucks his cards without showing, and takes the pot.
