Harman Takes Negreanu's Advice

Jennifer Traniello

After a player raised to 2,100 and Phil Laak called, Jennifer Harman reraised to 9,000.

The original raiser folded to Laak who began to rant once again. "I play so bad. I should take half my money and burn it and take the other half and bury it."

After he folded, Harman chimed in by saying, "Daniel [Negreanu] told me to grow some balls."

You Can't Bluff Humberto

Humberto Brenes raised to 3,600 from early position and got two callers, one in middle position and one in late position, Alexander Kostritsyn. The three players take a flop of {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Brenes bet 5,000 and the middle position player folded. Kostritsyn raised to 10,000, and Humberto called.

The turn brought the {6-Hearts} and both players checked.

The river was the {4-Hearts} and Brenes checked to his opponent. Kostritsyn bet out 13,000 and Humberto made the call.

Kostritsyn nodded and said, "Nice call." before mucking his hand.

Brenes responded by saying, "Nice try my friend."

Brenes now has 84,000 in chiips.

Phil Ivey Takes a Big Hit

After a player raised to 4,000 Phil Ivey called on the button. The flop came {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and when the original raiser bet 7,000, Ivey raised to 31,000. His opponent moved all in, and with that raise only an additional 7,000, Ivey made the call. He found that his {K-Spades}{10-Hearts} badly trailed his opponent' s {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}, and when the board ran out {A-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}, Ivey found his stack reduced to 16,000.

Gavin Griffin Has Been Eliminated

If it ever was, A-Q is no longer on Gavin Griffin's list of favorite hands. He was crippled when he lost a race holding A-Q against pocket tens, and on the very next hand he was eliminated when he pushed in his remaining chips holding A-5 and ran into A-Q. He didn't catch a five, and his tournament day came to an abrupt end.

Here We Go Again

Players have returned to their chairs for the final two levels of play for the day.

Most of the tables can be found scattered with poker chips, energy drinks, soda, and coffee as we go deeper into the night.
