Kabbaj Lays Down Ladies

Just as action seemed like it was going nowhere, John Kabbaj raised under the gun to 60,000. Kathy Liebert called out of the small blind. Both players took a flop of {K-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Liebert checked. Kabbaj bet 140,000 but wasn't too thrilled to see Liebert raise him to 325,000. The crowd gathered around the table to see if this was going to be the hand to end the night, but after some thought Kabbaj folded Q-Q face-up.

According to Phil Laak, "Kathy is solid, she's not going to donk off to us degenerate, low-life gamblers here. She knows what she's doing." The table laughed for a second, then went right back to business.

Standstill

The play has become really stagnant these past few rotations. A simple raise preflop is generally more than enough to take down the blinds. All of the players in the tournament are sitting with decent stacks and don't feel that they are in trouble. In fact, spirits around the table seem high with jokes being cracked and regular conversation going on between the players.

There are also no antes in the structure of the tournament to speed up the play, another reason why the players may not be fighting for chips as much.

Ryan Young is Eliminated in 11th Place ($49,632)

Ryan Young
Ryan Young
Let no one say that poker can't be a cruel game. In a battle of the blinds Kathy Liebert raised to 60,000 and Ryan Young reraised to 180,000. Liebert called, leaving Young just 60,000 behind, and they saw a flop of {J-Spades}{K-Spades}{2-Spades}. Young shipped his last 60,000 and Liebert called. Young had flopped a set of jacks, but Liebert had {A-Spades}{10-Spades} and flopped the nut flush. Young needed to boat up or hit a jack to stay alive, but the {6-Spades} fell on the turn and the {9-Hearts} on the river, and that was enough to eliminate him.

We're now redrawing seats, the remaining ten players will play together at the same table until one of them is eliminated and we set the final nine who will play for the bracelet tomorrow.

Nikolay Evdakov Eliminated in 12th Place ($49,632)

Nikolay Evdakov
Nikolay Evdakov
In blind-versus-blind action, Nikolay Evdakov bet 31,000 into the pot on a flop of {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}. Nenad Medic then raised the pot and Evdakov wasted little time in moving all his chips into the middle. Medic made the call.

Medic: {Q-Spades}{6-Spades}
Evdakov: {J-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Evdakov didn't improve as the turn came the {4-Spades} and the river was the {10-Diamonds}. Evdakov was eliminated in 12th place and received $49,632.

Chris Bell Takes Some Chips From Andy Bloch's Stack

Under the gun, Andy Bloch raised to 42,000 and both Chris Bell (on the button) and Mike Sexton (in the big blind) called. The flop came {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and after Sexton checked, Bloch bet 65,000 and Bell called. Sexton stepped aside and when the {7-Diamonds} turned, Bloch checked and Bell fired 125,000 into the pot. Bloch folded and Bell scooped a pot that swelled his stack to 390,000, while Bloch slipped to 900,000.

David Benefield is Eliminated in 13th Place ($41,360)

In late position, Mike Sexton raised to 41,000 and David Benefield moved all in for his last 150,000. Sexton called and showed {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} to Benefield's {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}. Benefield was looking for an ace to spike, but the {3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop gave him a flush draw as well. But the {6-Clubs} on the turn and {2-Spades} on the river missed him and "Raptor" was eliminated.

With the action folded around to the blinds Phil Laak limped and Chris Gildone checked his option. The flop came {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and when Laak checked Gildone bet 40,000. Laak check-raised to 112,000 and Gildon pushed forward his remaining chips. Laak called and showed {8-Clubs}{6-Spades} for two pair while Gildone had {K-Hearts}{4-Spades} for the nut-flush draw. The turn brought the {5-Diamonds} and the river the {9-Spades} and Chris Gildone was eliminated from the night's event. Laak is now up to 650,000.
