Another One Bites the Dust

Rob Przygoda opens the pot with a raise from early position and finds one caller in the shape of Eric Crain in the big blind.

The flop comes.. {7-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}

Eric leads out for a bet before facing a reraise from Rob. His answer is to move in for his last chips. Rob makes an easy call holding {4-Clubs} {4-Hearts} but Eric has outs with his {K-Spades} {8-Spades} .

The turn {10-Clubs} and river {J-Hearts} change nothing and Eric becomes our latest elimination.

Rob chips up to 77,000.

Pratt Loves the River

When we caught up with this hand there was about 16,000 in the pot and the board read {K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. Ward Crane lead out and bet his remaining 1,500 in chips with {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. Eric Pratt quickly called and revealed his open ended straight draw, {8-Spades}{6-Spades}. The river was the {5-Hearts} and Pratt made his straight knocking out Crane.

This win vaulted Pratt to 144,000 in chips and secured his spot amongst the chip leaders.

Animated Vinny

Vinny Vinh makes a raise from mid position before Jimmy Shultz reraises from late position. Eric Crain calls from the small blind as does Vinny before the flop comes down {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {7-Diamonds}. Eric leads out with a bet before Vinny raises. Both players call so we head to the turn.

Turn is the {10-Spades}. It's checked to Vinny who makes a bet before Jimmy raises. Both players call so we await the river.

The river is the {Q-Diamonds}. It's a scare card as all players check it through.

The {A-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} of Jimmy is good enough to take down the pot.

Before he takes the pot Vinny stands up, clutching his cards, claiming his opponent is a terrible player. He shows his hand to a player in the next seat and then shoves his cards in to the muck before anyone else can see them. He claims he had ace-ten but I guess we'll never really know.

Duc, "Nguyen"-ing

Duc Nguyen
Duc Nguyen
Duc Nguyen just took a nice-sized pot off of Jonathan Wall to improve to approximately 56,000 in chips.

On a flop of {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {10-Clubs}, Wall led out with bet, Nguyen raised and Wall made the call. The turn brought the {9-Diamonds} and this time Wall passed the first action to Nguyen who continued to play the hand fast, firing another round; again, Wall called.

Fifth street brought the {7-Diamonds} and another check, bet, call sequence led to a showdown:

Nguyen: {Q-Hearts} {J-Hearts}
Wall: Mucked

Nguyen's queen-high straight earned him the pot, leaving Wall with just 8,000 in chips.

No Victory for Victor

A big three-way pot just occured involving Erick Lindgren, Victor Ramdin and Chris Jackson.

Erick opened the pot with a raise from mid position, which Victor called from late position before Chris raised from the small blind. Erick then reraised and found both players calling.

The flop brought {4-Spades} {2-Spades} {7-Spades} before the action took off once more. It was checked to Erick who bet; Victor raised and Chris called. Erick decided to reraise before Victor capped it with another raise.

Both players called before the turn came {9-Diamonds}. Chris went all in for his remaining chips before Erick called and Victor raised. Erick called and the river came {Q-Clubs} prompting Erick to bet enough to put Victor all in if he called, which he did holding {K-?} {K-?}.

It was beaten though by Chris' turned set holding {9-Clubs} {9-Spades}. Both players shook their heads though when Erick tabled {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} for a rivered set to take all the chips and knock both Victor and Chris out.

A cheerful Erick now up to 107,000.

Mahmood Gone

Ayaz Mahmood, was eliminated by Jan Sjavik after his {A-Clubs}{3-Spades} was beaten by Sjavik's {A-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. They got all the chips in preflop and the board didn't pair either of them allowing Sjavik to take the pot with a live nine.

Mahmood cashed five times last year and we can only hope he beats that mark this year.

Sjavik has 23,000

"You Can't Tell Him What to Do!"

Vinny Vinh
Vinny Vinh
The ever-eccentric Vinny Vinh has just doubled up John Burnard and, straying from classic Vinny form, he actually stuck up for one of the very same dealers he's been known to hate.

Vinny opened the pot with a raise from under the gun holding {K-Hearts} {6-Hearts} and when the action folded around to Burnard, he reraised all in for a few hundred more. Vinny made the call and was happy to see that his king-six was live against John's {A-Spades} {10-Spades}.

The {4-Spades} {K-Spades} {J-Diamonds} flop gave Vinny top pair, but it also gave his opponent the nut flush draw, a gutshot straight draw and outs to make a higher pair.

'Any spade!' Burnard said.

Vinny then demanded, 'You can't tell him (the dealer) what to do!'

While a spade never came, Burnard spiked an ace on the turn to take command of the hand and never looked back as the {4-Clubs} blanked off on the river.
