Doyle Gets an Applause

The legend, Doyle Brunson, just entered the poker room on his way to the seven-card stud event. Upon entering, Brunson received a warm welcome and applause from some of the women in the tournament. Other women began to whisper to each other and turn their heads to see Doyle. Must be good to be the king.

Vanessa Selbst has taken a break from the ladies event, where she has a 7,500 stack in order to re-join the Day 2 re-start of Event #13 ($2,500 NLHE) where she has nearly a 100,000 stack. 126 players remain in the $2,500 NLHE and 99 are paid.

Kathy Liebert just told us that she typically prefers to play poker with the guys, adding that her table today is the toughest she's been at all series. That's a pretty strong statement, given that she made the final table of Event #1 ($10,000 World Championship pot-limit hold'em) amdist a lineup that included Mike Sexton, Andy Bloch, Patrik Antonius, Chris Bell, Phil Laak and eventual winner Nenad Medic.

. Her opponent held {7-Spades}

. The turn gave Liebert a straight when the {8-Hearts}

came out. The river did not pair the board with the {J-Hearts}

and Liebert was able to double back to 1,600.

to Landrum's {A-?}

. The aces held and Landrum was eliminated.

Before she left the tournament area, Landrum stopped one of our field reporters to compliment Hilaire on her play today.

"She's easily the best player at that table. She's extremely talented and has a good shot at winning this tournament," Landrum remarked as she hit the rail.
