Play Resumes

For what looks to be the last time this evening, the players have returned from break, and the cards are in the air once again, as we push towards a bracelet here in Event #16!

Of All People...

Between almost every hand, Ted Forrest stands up, and takes a quick walk around behind his chair, pacing nowhere in particular. Jim Pechac just asked him about it.

"Where you keep going? You nervous?"

Forrest responded, "I'm very superstitious."

We're not entirely sure what that means, but whatever Forrest is doing seems to be working just fine for him, as he is the chip leader by nearly a 2-to-1 margin.

"Big" Story Today

"Big" Jim Pechac
"Big" Jim Pechac
Without a doubt, the most compelling story in this event so far has been the plight of "Big" Jim Pechac. We touched on this earlier, but here's a quick refresher. Before the end of play yesterday, Pechac had just 1,000 chips remaining, a single, lonely orange chip. Content to call it a tournament, he went all in as the day's play concluded, only to double up, and earn a ticket back for Day Three. As a result, he began play today with 2,000 chips... and the blinds were 3,000-6,000. He was all in countless times in the early going, and survived each and every time, continuing to plod his way up the score sheet. As it sits right now, he has 365,000 in chips. The short stack, yes, but an astounding run nonetheless.

We catch up with Pechac again, as he takes down yet another pot. From the button, he raises first in, and Andrew Brown comes along with the call.

The flop comes {3-Spades} {K-Spades} {7-Diamonds}. Brown checks, Pechac bets, and Brown makes the call.

The turn is the {A-Hearts}. Brown checks again, and Pechac bets once more, only to get check-raised by Brown. Pechac comes over the top, raising all in for his last 20,000. Brown calls, and the hands are turned up:

Pechac: {7-Hearts} {7-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}
Brown: {A-Spades} {Q-Spades} {8-Hearts} {3-Hearts}

The river bricks off for Brown, and Pechac scoops another all-in pot with his set of sevens, boosting him up to 450,000.

After the hand, Ted Forrest says simply, "One chip..."

Pechac corrects him, "Two chips today."

Forrest: "Either way, it's a hell of a job."

Ted Forrest - He's a Professional

As we get into three-handed play, Ted Forrest has taken down the first four pots of this three-way battle.

In hand #1, he got a walk in his big blind.

In hand #2, he won with a bet on the river against Andrew Brown

In hand #3, he won with a bet on the turn against Jim Pechac

In hand #4, he won with a bet on the flop against Jim Pechac

We will see how the action develops further as these three men duke it out for the bracelet.

Soheil Shamseddin Eliminated in 4th Place ($71,961)

Just a couple hands after taking that hit, Soheil Shamseddin has been knocked out of the tournament in fourth place.

From under the gun, he opened the pot with a raise. Both Andrew Brown and "Big" Jim Pechac made the call. The dealer spread out the flop: {K-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {5-Spades}. When it checked to him, Shamseddin put in his last 5,000, which both of his opponents called.

The turn came the {2-Clubs}. Brown made a bet, and Pechac folded. The cards are shown down:

Brown: {2-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds} {9-Spades}
Shamseddin: {A-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {6-Hearts}

Brown had the high half locked up, but Shamseddin still had a few outs to make his low. However, the river brought the {J-Clubs}, failing to provide any help for him, and he is eliminated in fourth place. For his efforts, he will take home $71,961.

Shamseddin Crippled

From under the gun, Ted Forrest limps in, and both blinds get to come in for cheap as well.

The flop comes out {6-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {9-Hearts}. Jim Pechac checks, and Soheil Shamseddin makes a bet. Forrest folds, but Pechac calls.

Fourth street is the {K-Clubs}. Pechac bets out this time, and Shamseddin calls.

The last community card is the {6-Spades}, and both players check. The hands are turned over:

Pechac: {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {4-Spades}
Shamseddin: {7-Spades} {5-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {2-Hearts}

Shamseddin failed to hit any of his outs for either half of the pot, and he is crippled down to 70,000 chips.
