Men Nguyen Survives

Men Nguyen and Barry Greenstein
Men Nguyen and Barry Greenstein
Men "The Master" Nguyen has just been saved from extinction for the time being, rapidly approaching the money bubble.

In a multi-way pot, Nguyen got it all in on the flop, and got Hilbert Shirey to look him up. The board came {10-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {3-Diamonds}. Shirey showed down {A-Clubs} {J-Spades} {Q-Spades} {Q-Clubs}, while The Master took it down with his {9-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {A-Spades}. This was a timely double up for Nguyen, who is still alive, sitting at 16,000.

Forrest Runs Into the Double Nuts

Ted Forrest
Ted Forrest
We pick up this hand on the flop, with Ted Forrest and Lamar Johnston entangled in a heads-up pot.

The board reads {K-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {8-Spades}. Forrest bets, and Johnston calls.

The turn is the {5-Clubs}. Forrest bets again, and again Johnston calls.

The river is the {10-Clubs}. Forrest keeps the lead, but Johnston puts in a raise this time, and Forrest calls.

Johnston says, "Nut-nut," as he tables {A-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}, scooping a big pot from under Ted Forrest.

Williams Make His Exit

David Williams Eliminated

We just caught the tail end of the hand, as David Williams was eliminated from today's field.

The board showed {5-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}.

His two opponents held {A-Spades} {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {3-Diamonds} and {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {3-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} respectively, taking down the full pot, and sending Williams out the door.

Greenstein Signs a Book

Barry Greenstein Eliminated

Before the flop, Barry Greenstein moves all in for his last 2,500 chips. Two players, Kristy Gazes and William Sheppard, look him up.

The board runs out {3-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {J-Spades} {10-Hearts} {7-Hearts}, with the action checked down the whole way.

Gazes shows down {5-Spades} {K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {4-Hearts}, taking the high half with a flush, while Sheppard takes the low with his {4-Clubs} {2-Spades} {6-Spades} {A-Spades}.

Before heading out, Greenstein was sure to sign a copy of his book for Kristy Gazes.

Shamseddin Drags One In

We pick up the action here on the flop, with Thomas Hunt already all in, and battling to stay alive against two players.

The board so far reads {7-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {6-Spades}. Kia Hooshmand bets, and Soheil Shamseddin makes the call.

The turn is the {9-Diamonds}. Same action: bet, call.

The river is the {2-Diamonds}. Again, Hooshmand bets out, but this time Shamseddin puts in a raise, which Hooshmand calls.

Shamseddin tables {A-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}, giving him the nuts on both ends, and earning him a big pot.

Thomas Hunt, however, is eliminated without showing his hand.
