One Man's Opinion

Amnon Filipi just took a stroll through the tournament area and someone asked him about his absence from the event. He replied "I don't feel like losing $20K on a gamble. I might as well go to the craps table."

It's Not a Party Unless...

...Phil Hellmuth graces the event with his presence. He just strolled into the tournament area and took a seat. He wasn't the only one who waited until the last possible minute to buy into the tournament. Barry Greenstein, Michael Mizrachi and Gus Hansen are also new to the field. They will all have one more hour of rebuy madness to try to build a respectable stack.

Speaking of Side Action...

Todd Brunson is the center of the prop betting. Someone has offered David Benyamine 3:1 odds that he won't go deeper than Brunson. We're not sure who offered the action or how much it was for, but we did catch Benyamine's reaction.

"I have T50,000. I have to take it, right? Three to one?"

A Little Side Action

It wouldn't be a WSOP tournament without a few prop bets. It seems that Doyle Brunson, Jeff Lisandro and Tony G are wagering on when Todd Brunson will break the 300,000 chip mark. The way he seems to be getting the best of Phil Ivey, it might be sooner than later.

Overheard at the Tables

Orange #2:

"Hey Erick, what's your name on UB?"

Erick Lindgren scrunched up his face and stared at the ceiling. "Hmmm. Not sure. I'll figure it out. I can't remember."

Orange #11:

Mike Matusow (to a floor person): "Hey donkey! I mean, hey floor man! Hey superstar floor man!" A near-by floor approached the table and Matusow continued. "Have you accepted yet that you made the world's worst decision in Reno?"

Floor person: "I don't remember the decision but I agree I probably got it wrong."

Tom Dwan Mixing It Up

Tom Dwan raised from late position to 1,425. Layne Flack called from the small blind as did Freddy Deeb from the big blind. Flack drew one while Deeb drew 3 and Dwan stood Pat. After the draw, all the players checked. Dwan showed {Q-?} {J-?} {8-?} {7-?} {2-?} and his opponents mucked.

"We're Gonna Need More Chips"

Just 80 minutes into play, table #1 has already run out of rebuy chips. With $50K already in the dealer's tray, the ten stacks of chips set aside for rebuys are long gone. At this pace, we could see a fairly substantial prize pool for this event.
